Chose WL over AKL, Yikes!

I had to make a decision without consulting family and I chose the Wilderness Lodge over the AKL. How is the pool slide at WL? Did I make the right decision? Any advice for a stay at the WL?

I've stayed at and have enjoyed both. Each has their "better than's", but you really can't go wrong.

The WL pool slide is pretty basic, nothing special, but it's perfectly enjoyable.

I like both resorts, but I would choose WL over AKL. The slide at WL is nothing great, but they have the lake (boats), bike rentals, and a boat that goes to the MK.

I love WL. As stated above, the pool is pretty basic. It is absolutely beuatiful lit up at night, and we love the hot tub. When you stay at WL, you really feel like you are in a rustic paradise. The hotel is beautiful as is the AKL. We love the lobby with the high beams and the massive fireplace. Your family will love it. If they don't, well....you'll just have to plan another trip to WDW and make ressies at the AKL!!!!

I like the WL better and have stayed at both. For me WL is more conveinant and it is closer to the pool and food court where at AKL it was sooooooooooooo far away from our room.... we never got to fill up or mugs because we didnt feel like going so far.The savanah is in the middle so the pool and food court are oddly placed to the side... so if you end up all the way at the otehr side(us) it took us like 30 min to get to the pool

While certainly not an absolute, I would say that many folks who consider the WL or AK their favorite resort consider the other one their second favorite . . .

When I finally stayed at AKL I was suprised by how much it reminded me of WL. Except for the theming (a big difference, I know), I think they're very similar.

I prefer WL, though.

I think both resort where designed by the same person, or at least the lobbies where . I also like WL better. Very convenient and comfortable. Love the boat to MK! As stated above, pool slide at WL is not a highlight but the pool is still very nice!

Yes, both AKL and WL were designed by the same architect, as well as Disney's Grand Californian.

The GF is my favorite hotel, but the AKL is my second favorite

I like the WL but the Victorian theming at GF appeals to me more, and I love the animals and the design at AKL. We really like the WL as well, however; very pretty, user friendly and close to MK, which is good.

I've stayed at both and LOVED them both! I'd say AKL is my first choice, but WL is an extremely close 2nd choice. If they were in a horse race for who is my favorite, then it would be a photo finish. You can't go wrong with either resort!

I've been debating the same thing for our trip next year. We need three nights after our DVC points run out. I love both hotels, but have finally decided on WL. I think because of all our trips during December, we have only stayed at WL in April/May for some reason. I wanted to stay at WL during Christmas. Plus, I love the pool and food better at WL. If they could move the animals outside my window, it would be a perfect stay.

We've stayed at both and WL wins hands down over AKL. On our last trip we split the stay AKL then WL. We could not wait to leave AKL and go to WL.

The pool at AKL is so large that I felt like I couldn't keep a close eye on DS like I can at WL. Also while my DS loves animals and would love to go back there because of that, WL remains my entire family's favorite resort.
