Unfortunately Counter Service quality is lacking, with a few exceptions, if you go to Pizza Port, stick to the Pasta, the pizza is terrible and is usually sitting out for quite some time, if you go to Hungry Bear, be sure to ask for Onion Rings instead of Fries, it's about $0.50 extra (last time that I was there), but worth it, the fires are terrible. Note: Village Haus doesn't cook their own meat, it comes from Tomorrowland Terrace, which severely increases the risk of food poisoning (At least this used to be the case, I am not 100% sure it still is, as I will not eat there anymore after having MAJOR problems twice in a row, I figured once was just a fluke, but twice, now that's a problem)
Tomorrowland Terrace is the best value for Breakfast in the entire resort and good food, it is not good for other meals, but the Apple Poppers and Frozen Cheesecake there are great!
The best quality food for Counter Service is now River Belle Terrace, they even have a condiment bar were you can get grilled mushrooms and onions (note they are mixed together, but yummy, esp. on the Prime Rib Sandwich!)
Rancho Del Zocalo ranks a close second.
Third would be Plaza Inn on Main Street
Fourth (close fourth) would be French Market in New Orleans
If you are looking for a decent Sit Down meal, both Cafe Orleans and the Carnation are good choices.
I am limiting this to
Disneyland, as that is what was posted originally, DCA and Downtown Disney offer good food as well, you just have to know where to look, what to order and how to ask for it to be prepared so that it is fresh.
I would advise against Chicken Strips, except at White Water Snacks in the Grand Californian or any sit down restaurant, the rest of them are really, really dry, again I haven't had them for some time, so I do not know if they have improved any, but this is what used to be the case.
