Hi

Can somebody let me know when you can pre choose seats on Virgin flights?

Thanks

336 days before your return date is I think standard practice for VA or to the rest of us not in the business 11 months before your return home date.

We fly in 5 weeks and I have tried loads of times to log onto the website but it doesn't give me the 'choose your seats' option
What am I doing wrong?

It could well be that the allocation of seats available for those making pre check in requests has already been exhausted. The best thing for you to do, other than to check with Virgin Atlantic directly (on the phone) would be to ensure that you check in online when the check in window opens (24 hours before the flight).

We couldn't pick seats last year going to Orlando but could for coming back. We even couldn't do online check in but we just made sure we arrived at the airport when the desks opened and we got class seats, in the back row of the bulkhead, all 4 of us in a row together. So don' t despair if you cannot request seats more than likely you will be fine anyway.

We seem to have problems doing this every year...and again when I pre-booked the other month for our May flights, it wasnt having any of it. We phoned, and were given a reference number that wasnt remotely like anything on any correspondance we had, but worked.

I phoned on Sunday and apparently you need the E- Flight number ( I had been trying to log in with my booking ref) why don't they put this on your correspondance?
After all that I still had to ring with my seat pref as it wouldn't let me choose a 3 +2 it said all my party had to be seated together!
Next time I will just ring, it's far easier

What number did you call? I can't log in with my Booking ref no either.....:confused3

When I made our seat requests last week I spent a while trying to work out why the web site kept rejecting my request. I was trying to be too clever and split the party, to occupy a number of rows, so that I could come back with the other booking (for the SIL and BIL) and fill in the seats.

Eventually I twigged that the web site was not letting me sit DS (13) by himself. He has to be sat next to an adult. Once I did this the rest was easy. I ended up making the seat requests for both parties in two web browsers at the same time.

This is the tack I'll use when it comes time to OLCI.

You need to make sure that your tickets have actually been issued. With VH this is done no sooner than 11 months from the date of your return flight, they do this once a week on a Wednesday. It may well be that your tickets have not been issued. Once they have been you can either phone VH to get the locator for the tickets and then proceed to the web site or alternatively phone VA directly and they will look you up by name on the specific flight, the agent will be able to give you the locator and also make the seat assignments for you.

Looking at your ticker you are 10 months 3 weeks from your holiday - so, unless you are staying for only one week you won't have cleared the 11 month time limit from your return flight yet.

The advantage of doing it over the web is that you get to see the seat map and can choose the seats, when you do it with the agent you are reliant on them to interpret your request and select something for you.

As always remember that these are just requests and can and do change. Nothing is guaranteed until you are sat on the plane in a seat and the flight has started.
