Where are the best seats to choose on a flight? Does it make a difference in comfort if you are seated in the front or back? I had chosen seats in the front for our upcoming Feb flight(our first time to fly), but when they rescheduled my flight they assigned me seats in the very last row(those are the only two seats assigned according to the chart). I need to call about the flight change and wondered if I sould check on changing the seats as well?? Thanks for your opinions

I would avoid the very back row. These seats are usually right in front of the lavatories and often, the seats don't recline.

If you can see your reservations online on your airline's website, you can usually change them online too. There's a sticky on top, but check out www.seatguru.com to see layouts of different planes with comments on their seats... it's a great tool!

I wouldn't want the very back row for the reasons already mentioned, but the back area of the plane is not bad at all. I tend to sit in the front, but only because I don't check luggage so I can get off and get on my way quickly. If I had to wait for bags, I'd be just as content sitting in the back and making my way off the plane slowly. We often sat in Row 36 (exit) back in our ATA flying days.

When I flew home on Monday, I made the mistake of requesting the Emergency exit row. I was on a different plane then I am used to and not only did it not have extra leg room but it didn't recline. I was stuck straight up the whole flight w/ no extra leg room. (side note: I usually don't recline much, just enough to prevent me from sitting straight up.) I still don't understand why the person who checked me in at the a/p didn't tell me that the aircraft didn't have extra leg room in the exit row. Why would anyone want to sit there if it's like a regular seat? Oh well, lesson learned.

My husband and I have flown many times....The way back tends to "bump and sway" more so if you are prone to motion sickness, don't go there! I can tollerate alot but the one time i was back there I almost got sick. I always get the middle of the plane near the wings.... just in front of the wings is alot quieter than just behind them. Haven't sat in the front yet...
