I don't fly very often but I am flying to Florida in two weeks with Continental, code sharing with Virgin I believe. Using the Continental site I have not been able to choose a seat on the plane, it says I can do this 24 hours before checking in or at the airport desk. When I look on the site now the seating plan shows no unoccupied seats on the flight out.

Should I be concerned? Is it worth calling them? I really need my holiday! :scared:

Thanks

Hi

Thats spooky, I have literally just had the same problem. I have just booked NY - ORL on July 9th, it went all the way through on line but when I came to choose the seats there was only one available (there are 2 ads and 3 kids of us)

So I telephoned, got a lady who was very helpful in the US and she booked the exact same flight without any seat issues at all. Assuming she has not put us on the wing!!!!

Steve

I couldn't choose seats through the Continental site either, I went onto the Virgin site and used the Virgin booking number I was given by Continental to choose my seat on there. Hope that works for you :thumbsup2

Whats your date and Take off time?
I will have a look on the wweb site to see how full the virgin flight is

Although Continental allow you to pick your seat as soon as you book they do release more seats 24 hours in advance for online check-in (including the exit ones: We got them for 2 of our 4 flights last year, they just verify that you're suitable/OK with what may be expected of you if the worst happens, at check-in) so I wouldn't worry :goodvibes

if you can't get them booked I would make sure and arrive at the airport in plenty of time
the american airlines sometimes over book
have been twice asked to take a later flight and get some free flight credit for another time too never took up the offer , it has always been on the return trip thought

Thanks for the replies, managed to get onto the Virgin site using my details and could select a seat for the return journey but looks like the pre-assigned outward ones are taken. Will get the airport early just in case though :)

I have to tell you, I wouldn't go anywhere near Continental's seat booking site after the nightmare I had with them. I tried to reserve three seats together for me, my wife and my daughter, the system had some sort of problem and logged me out and when I logged back in it said that my tcikets on the flight had been cancelled. This resulted in a morning of increasingly heated telephone conversations with Continental which culminated in one woman telling me "it's happened and you will just have to live with it" at which point I absolutely blew my top. Eventually the reservation was reinstated but it was certainly a very stressful morning.

Having said that I hope you have better experiences.
