Choosing a weekend in January

I am thinking ahead and planning a weekend trip to DLR in January and I'm wondering which would be the best weekend to pick:
Jan 7/8: first weekend after New Years. Maybe still busy due to some kids not having gone back to school yet?
Jan 14/15: MLK day weekend and Star Wars half marathon weekend. I assume this will make it busier, but will it be as busy as spring break days / Christmas week or more manageable than that? Also, is there any chance of good rates at DLR hotels as part of Star wars half marathon (or does the half marathon make hotel rates worse?)
Jan 21/22: I assume this will be the least crowded weekend but I'm wondering if DLR maybe starts having shorter hours as a result? Also, will IASW be down for holiday overlay removal at this point? I would really love to ride it with the holiday overlay if possible!

Thanks for your help! I know I have lot of time to think about this between now and January LOL ... but I am a planner :)

Phoenix schools don't go back until after that first weekend you are looking at. I know we will be there that weekend! It is also the first weekend that is not blocked out on annual passes since December 10. So that might make it a bit more crowded. Certainly not as crowded as your second suggestion!

It's still break for me in northern ca that weekend (7/8) and I'll be there too. We are going for the Christmas experience as we have never been during Christmas because of the crowds. But I'm just dying to see it done up for Christmas and since it will be our 3rd trip of the year I'll hopefully feel less stressed over getting to do less and having to take more breaks to deal with the crowds.

The half marathon weekends are busy. And MLK weekend (and all holiday weekends) tend to be busy too. When we went Presidents' Day weekend, since it was also my sons birthday, it was very very busy. There was also a cheer competition and the park was filled with pint size cheerleaders. So basically an event in the area as well as a long weekend and it was bursting at the seems.

That being said there doesn't seem to be "slow" time there anymore. Only mostly crowded, totally crowded, and packed to capacity.
