Hi everyone,
I have been lurking and reading alot here. I have a few questions about a few hotels I havent een able to find new threads about. I have a famly of 5 and my sister has a family of 5 including my mother. W will be driving from Michigan to Florida in Dec approx the week before christmas and will stay until after christmas. I have been looking at hotels and villas online. I have stayed at a Residence Inn before and loved it. Can anyone offer me any advice on these hotels and villas. We will have different rooms. Here are the hotels I am looking at.
Residence Inn either Intnl. Dr, conv ctr or Lake buena vista or Holiday Villas.

This is our first trip to WDW and I just want to have enough space for us to"get away" from each other. Any advice is helpful. Plus is there anything I should ask when calling the hotels to get possible better deals.

Thanks april:earsgirl:

It's not one of the hotels you mentioned, and I haven't actually stayed here but have reservations for the end of December based on posivite reviews from this board, and I'd recommend Cypress Pointe. You can get a 2 bedroom/2 bath condo that will sleep 6 from Hotelkingdom.com for $70.80 + tax. I'd say it's similar to a Residence Inn in that there are separate sleeping areas and a kitchen, but you're getting the added bonus of a 2nd bathroom as well as washer/dryer which can really come in handy. They have a 3 bedroom for $86.91 if that might be better for the group that includes your mother. I believe there's a king in one bedroom and 2 twins in the other in the 2 bedroom. 3 bedroom has an additional king bedroom.

Windsor Palms is another nice condo that we've stayed at, but some of the best deals there are through renting from individual owners which wouldn't work well since you'd need 2 units.

okay the week before Christmas - the parks will be busy but still bearable - but the week of Christmas - that is the busiest time of the year in Orlando not to mention WDW.

People every where - and expect WDW to close every day early - they will close to outside when the parking lots are fully - to resort guest they only close when the park is at capacity -

you sure you want to then????

if you still do - go look on
www.skyauction.com

you should be able to get 2 villa (condo) not in the same complex but fairly close to each other - like Orange Lake and Summer Bay resort.

you should be able to get the week before Christmas - but Christmas week itself - will be difficult and very, very expensive.....

I agree about the deal at Cypress Pointe. We just got back from there and it was fine. It is a little older than what we are used to and not luxurious, but we had a lot of space. There would be two masters in a 3BR with two twins in the other bedroom and a pull out sofa. The pool area was fine. Our kids loved it.
Is the Residence Inn on I-drive the new one? I think I drove by it. I have seen pictures on the internet and it looks very nice. I always go for the newest place I can stay.

Thanks to everyone who has responded. I am just not sure what to do. I am getting pressure from my mom to just rent a house. I have looked into this but how do you know what your going to get when you get there??

Yes I am sure that we need to go then because my husband gos to college and thats when he will be off for christmas break. Thanks for all the advice I am still considering a few things and need to make a decision before its too late.
Thanks again
april

most of the house rental sites -will show you a picture of the house that you are renting.

and yes the houses are a good bargin - not as good as skyauction - but when you consider how much more room and every one can stay together - I think they are even.

the house is a house - not a resort.

Thanks Pat,
I think we are going to go for one of the homes. It seems to be better than a hotel for us and enough space to get away from one another too. Plus since we will be there during christmas I think it will let my kids feel like its christmas too. They do seem to be much cheaper than the hotels though, then you get to divide that in half for the 2 couples. Thank again, april
