I haven't seen the Making Memories show. Is that one we all submitted photos for?

It is, and if you can stand it see a later show. The couple time I've been back there I noticed that a lot of people show up for the early show(on multi show nights) and as soon as it's over rush away. I assume all to get spots to watch the FWs. But the late show was kind of empty, except it may be late for younger kids, and they may rather be on last rides.

I'm going to throw this out as an option but still suggest the hub and Mainstreet for fireworks.

You can watch the fireworks from Small World Plaza. I'd give this spot a 7.5/10. Better than RoA but not like mainstreet. Here's why, if you get the right spot you can see tink fly and most of the fireworks over the castle. The high fireworks. Also the projections on the castle are also displayed on IASW. But the problem is, think of a clock with 12 at the back of the park. IASW is at 1. The high fireworks at 11. The Castle at 6. So you are spinning around to see it all.

ETA, not sure how the Magic Memories and You will looks on IASW when it's covered in lights for christmas. I know the lights can be turned off but it may make lines all over it ruining the show.

I'm not sure about submitted photos. I know a bunch of the photos were taken in the park that day. But it did include a bunch of older pics too...ie generations of Disney guests, and showed video of kids finding out they were going to DL (aka their reactions). Was funny, beautiful very touching. Made me cry. I just loved it. The face of the clock of Its a Small World comes alive....really lovely.

IASW is my favorite. It sounds heart warming.

It's called Magic, Memories and You....sorry had it wrong before

:thanks:

Thanks!! I can totally visualize it. :thumbsup2

Such great insights everyone, thank you thank you! :goodvibes

More days you need more days! Tell your husband I said so. :)

Parade at night is a must if you've never done it.

I know! :hyper: I've told him a bazillion times we need another day. The issue is that we are staying at the GCV and I truly doubt there is any availability for the size villa we want for the additional night.

We are staying at my friends 11/23-11/27 and then the GCV 11/27-11/30. I suppose we could be *homeless* for the day and just go until we're done. They'll hold our luggage for sure. We could always stay the night at my friend's. She only lives about 10-15 minutes away.

Are you a DVC owner? If so, is one of your homes at VGC? I wanted to buy there, but DH needs more convincing.

::yes:: We do own DVC. SSR is our home resort. I'd love to add on at the GCV one day. We've had great luck scoring a villa at the 7 month mark. :thumbsup2

I voted Fireworks and WOC. We had the F! dessert package the last time we visited and we were like meh... and that was with the dragon working.

I know that is almost sacrilegious on these boards but it's how we feel. We're not parade people either.

If you haven't seen F! then I'd say F! and WOC. For us, we'd like to see WOC at least once and we never, ever miss a chance to see fireworks.

:thanks: Martin. I know how it is to be sacreligious here: I don't Crocs, fanny packs, and don't love Space Mtn or Screamin'. :scared1: :rotfl:

I wouldn't miss the fireworks either. They are my absolute nirvana. Still torn between WoC and F! My son says no to F! and yes to WoC. My middle DD is the opposite. I'm sure DH will choose WoC over F! if a choice has to be made. He says DCA is a better park than Disneyland. :rotfl2: Good thing he's a looker because clearly, he's not that bright. :lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I get the feeling that Disney/DLR/TDA doesn't want to fully commit yet to a total, 100% holiday version of World of Color. That may come after all the work is done in DCA and the masses are pouring in to see Cars Land, etc. I have a feeling that DLR would put out blogs and press releases months and months in advance if they were going to do a total holiday WoC. They seem to release information way in advance when there is going to be something brand new, big and exciting.

They did test the waters (no pun intended, but still....:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:) with WoC by doing that little 4th of July segment this year. Wasn't the rumor (via Al Lutz) that DLR/TDA was hesitant to go full throttle with a Halloween version of World of Color because they were not sure how it would be received by the public (it would be received well by me, and by everyone in the Halloween Superthread, so I don't know what the hang up is!:rotfl2::rotfl2:)??? And then they were not even sure they would try a mere Halloween segment of WoC, from what I understood.

So now that Halloween Time begins in, oh...ONE WEEK...and there is no word of anything Halloween-ish even touching WoC, I guess DLR/TDA scrapped the whole plan.:confused3 Based on this, I would assume that a completely holiday-ized World of Color is totally out of the question for this year, and a holiday segment of WoC is possible....but maybe not very likely.

If I were you I would just plan to see F! and the Believe...in Holiday Magic fireworks for the time being. And then, if we find out that WoC is suddenly getting a holiday infusion, you can jump ship to WoC and skip F! at the last minute!

;) I mean, really? 3 days?

Carsland isn't set for completion until 2012 right? I agree, you'd think they'd release it to draw the crowds.

A Halloween version would be amazing! I can see an entire Nightmare Before Christmas montage. I actually prefer HMH.

Good insight. Maybe just too much going on in DCA and the WoC is already such a huge hit.

Jump ship as in change last minute? :scared1: Girl, you're crazy!!!!
I am far too neurotic. I'm truly thinking about calling Member Services to see if I can score a villa for Nov 30. I'll worry about DH later. pirate:

That is good to know that you can book at 7mos. I really wanted that 11mo window. Thanks for the heads up.

11 months is for your home resort, you can book, if there is availability, at 7 months at the other DVC resorts. :thumbsup2

That is why I wanted to buy at VGC. If it was my home resort, we would get an 11 month booking window. DH is reluctant to buy there. It is nice to know it is still available at 7 months if I cannot convince him to buy there. I assumed (since availibility is so limited with one resort rather than multiples at WDW) there would be nothing left at 7 months. Some people have told me it is hard to get in at 7 months while others have said it is esy. If we bought there, I would have a great shot at always getting a DLR trip.

If you visit DLR more than WDW, buy at the GCV. We bought at SSR and while I am very happy we did, we visit Disneyland more than WDW.... like 4x as much. It would be nice to have the 11-7 month early booking window available. We don't plan Disneyland 11 months in advance, more like 8 months.
