Chomps Around the World! A December Dining Review!!

Oh yay, Contempo Cafe reviews! Those are few and far between, and I've been wondering since we'll be staying at CR for the first time next May :cool1:

How was the beef flatbread? I've been wondering what flavor the marinade is for the beef, any thoughts?

I can't tell you what the flavor was but I can tell you my DDIL loved it. She ate the whole thing. I had the turkey BLT and it was good and DS had the Pizza flatbread and liked it!

There will be a few more....Contempo Cafe has a nice variety and you cant beat having it about 2 seconds from the room!

The flatbread was REALLY good....I just realized I forgot to talk about it in the review. The beef was nice and tender...the pizza overall has kind of a sweet flavor with the goat cheese and carmelized onions/sun dried tomatoes. The arugula gives it a nice contrast with the tangy fresh flavor...it all goes really well with the chewy crust! YUM now I'm hungry...:rotfl:

joining in and great start.

:welcome:

Count me in! Silas is adorable!

Thanks So much! For reading and for the compliment :)

GASP! I probably would have dumped my whole tray of food to save my cupcake. :rolleyes1

I'm glad to read your reviews! We'll be at CR in 5 short days!

I love that you talk your DH into trying things just for the benefit of the DIS :rotfl:

That's exactly what I do with my DH bit don't tell him :rolleyes1

Glad to hear something good on Contempo. We went once on our last trip and ordered a burger to split. Neither of us could eat it, worst burger ever.:sad2: Seems we ordered wrong!

I know! I was REALLY upset at first but I calmed down soon since they brought me another...I had to control my urge to scream at the lady that bumped me :lmao:

Derek picked this one, I never wanted to try it when we did the DDP since I was always trying to find the best DDP "value" like Le Cellier and other more expensive choices. We went right in and we had no wait for our table. When we sat down we started looking at the menu and I decided I needed a refreshment of the adult kind ASAP. We saw the table next to us get sat and the server came right over and got their drink order...I tried to nab him to see if he was our server too but he was too quick! So we continued to wait while the other table got their drinks....I was ready to flag down someone just when our server showed up. She asked if we were on the DDP first and we said no...she seemed kind of disappointed?! I each ordered a beer and Derek got a Diet Coke. We then immediately ordered our food since we waited so long for our server in the first place. We decided to share Pot Stickers and an order of the Honey Sesame Chicken. Our drinks came quickly....I ordered a light beer and it was nice and light and refreshing

Silas enjoyed his bottle too! :rotfl::rotfl:

Next came our appetizer...the potstickers, there were 5 on the plate but obviously we were HUNGRY :lmao:

We enjoyed them but REALLY wished there were more....

Our entree (Honey Sesame Chicken) followed shortly after and it was very very good.

Obviously we were still hungry after the pot stickers....
The chicken was lightly fried and was nice and crispy. The sauce was also light and slightly sweet and a nice compliment to the crispy chicken. The rice was, well rice....but it was cooked just fine. It was also served with a small side of slaw...made with cucumber and carrots. It was slightly sour and very cold but complimented the meal nicely. We finished our dinner still with room in our tummy but we had planned it that way...you'll see why in the next post!!!

We decided to leave room after dinner since we were anticipating a snack from a new sweet spot...the Werther's Original Store in Germany popcorn:: We had read in our AP newsletter that during the week of 12/4 that Werther's was giving away free samples of their Caramel Popcorn to AP holders! :woohoo::woohoo:

Of course I am down for anything Disney will give me for "free" so we got in the long long long long long long line....at least they know hot to keep my attention in there...

I wish there was smellavision right about now...that smell was HEAVENLY. It was really interesting to watch her making the caramel corn...she was very careful not to burn herself and wore some long cloth gloves that covered her forearms. Watching her brought back memories of making caramel corn with my Mom and Aunt....YUM!
Here's a few more pics of the store...

Oh my! I am drooling.....So I get to the very front of the line and I asked for my free sample of caramel corn. The lady was like...oh we are running low so we are giving out chocolate dipped marshmallows....UM WHATTTTTTTTT:scared1::scared1::scared1: I was like NO WAY did I wait in this long line not to get my caramel corn! So I played the "It's my husband's Birthday" card and asked if we could at least get ONE sample of caramel corn. To my delight they agreed! Here's my highly coveted caramel corn!

This picture doesn't even do it justice! It was SO good, nice and fresh and still warm mmmmmmm

I suppose i could have paid for it...but it tasted so much better free! lol
And here's the chocolate dipped marshmallows with caramel drizzle

These were ok, not caramel corn, but still good

After we left the Werther's store we were going to get in line for CP but wanted a something to wait in line with so we made good use of the stroller's cup holders :rotfl:

YUM! Those warmed us up while we waited in line for CP :thumbsup2

Subbing!

We have the same stroller, except mine is the double. LOL Too funny about it holding beer and nuts. :goodvibes

Click on the post # that you want to link (upper right hand corner i.e., your last post #31) that will bring your post full page. Copy the URL http:// address at the top. Go to the text that you want to link it to and hi-lite the text. Click on the little insert link icon, looks like a blue globe with binoculars. That will pop up a box for you to paste the URL link. After pasting it hit OK. Hopefully this works, I didn't do a very good job explaining it.

My boyfriend and I stopped inside of the caramel store on our recent trip. We didn't get anything (in retrospect, a bit of a silly decision!), but it smelled amazing in there!

Hehe it holds the beer well! Although you have to be careful going over the cobblestone parts in WS so you dont spill! :rotfl:

Well if the line is kind of a pain, but the treats are YUMMMMMMMY...you can make it something to look forward to next time though! :thumbsup2

thanks for a wonderful update, the popcorn looks really yummy.

Thanks for Reading!

I'm in...we're a "No DDP" family, too...very interested to see how others handle this!

OMG. While the caramel corn looks great, if they offered me chocolate covered ANYTHING I would have jumped at it! :rotfl:

Yes I think it fits better for us because the portion sizes are just RIDICULOUS on the DDP, if they still included the tip than that would be when I go back to it! I feel like the DDP always jacks up the tip too because each person is ordering an entree and dessert and beverafe, therefore making the total higher than if not on the DDP (at least for us)...therefore making the overall total higher...but thats just my opnion :)

Hehe well the caramel corn smelled SOOOOOOOO good, the whole store smelled like it! And the chocolate covered marshmallows were good...but very small! mmmmmm anything free always tastes better too :thumbsup2
