They are named after the Maple Leaf. Therefore as a team they are the Leafs, not Leaves. You don't pluralize the proper name. At least thats how I rationalize it.

37 years and soon to be 38 San Jose will win a cup before the Leafs ever win another one. Mind you it would be kinda cool for hockey to see a HABS Leafs division final.

The SENS fired the entire coaching staff today hopefully they get rid of Lalime next he sucks he can play inthe regular season but when it comes time for the playoffs and everyone one steps up their game he doesn't he is not a playoff goalie.
