I'm a single mom and my DFi has 2 kids he pays for. So needless to say we can't afford to stay at disney hotels much of the time. Maybe in off season we can catch one of the low budget ones but we have yet to do so. We first stayed at the Rhode way inn. It's cheap but it's clean. I mean xmas day it's $50! It's owned by choice hotels which is also comfort Inn and quality inn. We upgraded to those because they are still inexpensive but more comfortable. I got it for my bday weekend Dec 18-21 for $58/night. Plus I get point toward free nights. It's also 5-10 min from the park. Yea it's nice to have the transport service and other perks but we get free parking from our AP but knowing I have some extra money in my pocket to indulge in great food and to grow my strictly disney pandora charm bracelet is worth it to me.

I agree - there are so many clean, inexpensive hotels/motels close to WDW....sometimes it seems crazy to stay onsite. We can't stand the shuttle buses, so we rent a car anyway - not missing out on anything there.

Oh! Not to mention the rooms offsite at these budget motels are larger, usually the beds and larger, and most of the time they include breakfast too!
