Started going to DisneyWorld about only 3-4 years ago.

First time I stayed at the Contemporary and got a box of 4 chocolates inside an actual chocolate box which was pretty cool.

Second time I stayed at the Contemporary the box was no longer made of chocolate but a nice brown box wrapped in gold string with a chocolate bar with a picture of the Contemporary on it and 3 chocolates. The Polynesian had something similar - except the chocolate bar had "Aloha" imprinted on it.

That was the norm up until my trip a few days ago where I got a non-descript plastic triangle box with 3 chocolates in it. Doesn't even have the polynesian logo on the box.

Cost cutting... Meh... In fact I'm not even sure what costs they're saving because my room fees went up far higher than any savings they made from scrimping on a bar of chocolate!

We stayed at the Contemporary for the first time in January and I don't remember getting any chocolates, or anything at all "extra", although it was noted on the reservation that it was a celebration visit. I can't recall getting anything at any other resorts we've stayed at, either. Fortunately for me, I'm trying to avoid excess sugar consumption, so it actually helps me to not receive these treats. Would appreciate the gesture if they did it, though.

We did get chocolates, and a lithograph, on the Disney Cruise Line over New Year's.

It's the new norm everywhere. They think we won;t notice.

I understand the need to cut costs and such but It's a RESORT - It's a LUXURY item to begin with. The point of coming to Disney and *staying on-site* is to have the "Disney magical experience" To feel special. Also it makes no sense to nearly double the room rates in just under 4 years and yet continue to cut costs.

Losing the towel animals in the club level because it's too expensive and a hassle (where I'm paying a premium above and beyond the usual costs to begin with!).
Losing the bedside cards to save costs.
Downgrading the chocolates to the point of a tiny plastic box which doesn't make me feel like an honored guest but says "We gave you these because we're required to by law pray I don't alter the bargain any further!"
No mickey towel ears on the bed this time.
No per resort customized itinerary folders anymore. Just a "one-size-fits-all-of-disney-resorts" packet holder.

And they wonder why attendance is down.

I was really surprised we got that earlier this week too -- I thought they did away with welcome chocolate. But yes, I thought the same thing, it was such a small triangle box! We split-stay at BWI too and did not get anything there.

We never got a box of chocolate any of the 3X wed stayed at the Contemporary.

Are the welcome chocolates only on club level now? I've stayed there the last couple of times but the first few times at the Contemporary I wasn't...

Past club level stays we've gotten chocolates and cards but last stay at Poly club July 2015 we didn't get any little gifts.

At POFQ this May we received a chocolate 'box' containing 4 chocolate truffles. It came with a note thanking us for returning; it was very nice!

We also got the chocolate box this past May at POFQ. My husband really enjoyed it!! :thumbsup2

Well isn't that special. Now you get better treatment at the moderate resorts than you do club level at a deluxe. Maybe they're trying to discourage people from staying deluxe?? :confused3

Ha, CL at the Boardwalk nets you taffy, no chocolate to be found!

Only time I've ever gotten a chocolate welcome gift was when we have a CL stay.

We've never gotten chocolate or any other welcome gift at any resort.

Only gift we've ever received from our resort were autographed character photos. Though one time at the Contemporary Goofy left a Beanie Baby type version of himself with balloons in our room as a gift for our 4 year old.

We got chocolates and a chocolate bar at the Poly in April. Both were very good quality chocolate too. Guessing Callebaut at a minimum.

When we first started staying CL we received some wonderful gifts but that was in the mid 90,s. At the RPC GF we received a large tin full of raspberry short bread cookies that we could take home along with a little sewing kit in a Victorian style tin.I still have it. This year at the GF we dift receive any welcome gift and one night we received 2 little squares of chocolate. In March of this year we stayed at the BWI CL and did receive a small plastic box of chocolates with one of them having BWI on it. Heck when we stayed at the AKL CL we even received a thank you for staying with us departure bag with 4 bottles of water in it for our trip home. Of course that was back in the early 2000's.
