We wonder what kind of different chocolate is offered at the chocolate & liquor tasting.
We are in September on the Fantasy at a western carribean cruise.
Are there chocolates from different countries, and what countries?
Kinds of dark chocolats?

Thanks in advance.

These are actually more of a liquor tasting - the focus is on that rather than the chocolate. Typically it's a high-quality dark chocolate, white chocolate and a caramel chocolate. It's usually all the same brand. We've been a few times and they usually have both chocolate pieces as well as melted chocolate, along with a high-quality Parmesan. The purpose of the chocolate (and cheese) is to contrast with and change the flavor of the alcohol.

Attached is the chocolate and liquor tasting we did on the Wonder. There was everything from melted white chocolate to dark chocolate and even a pairing with Parmesan cheese. It was a great session showing how the different chocolates brought out different flavours in the liquors. I hope that helps.

All of it was Valhrona chocolate on our May 2017 cruise. It was fabulous. The melted stayed melted. Pretty awesome experience.

When we did ours, the pairings were: champagne & white chocolate; Cabernet Sauvignon & milk chocolate; port and parmesan; whiskey & dark chocolate. The chocolate was melted. Totally amazing. Given my experience with other tastings, I would say that each one is different depending on what they have available and what the presenter wants to do. The presenter at ours said that the parmesan was "stolen" from Palo, the dark chocolate was a very high end and expensive one that the chefs at Palo would have loved to get their hands on but wasn't allowed to (so they were not happy to have their parmesan taken) and the whiskey was more expensive than the entire cost of the tasting but since it was the last night of a 12-day cruise (Baltic) the rules were relaxed somewhat. Don't know if any of that was true or not. Don't care. Loved it. Want to do it again.

All of the wine, Champaign and mixology tastings were already booked and I came across this one accidentally..I booked it and can’t wait! We are on July 21st Fantasy sailing

Wow all these people with fancy chocolate. All I got was Hershey's, Krackle, and Lindt. Just kidding. As others have said they talk a bit about the history of chocolate and where it originates, and then they have you sample the drink before and after the chocolate and how that impacts the flavoring. A lovely experience and as previously mentioned, it can very between cruises, and even sessions on board. You generally get pretty good value from the classes if you like drinking.
