So while away this weekend I went to a restaurant supply store a few states from home, and purchased a large bag of expensive, Merkins Chocolate chips.

I didn't want them to melt in the car on the hot, long drive home, so I put the sealed bag in a cooler with ice. Unfortunately, the "factory sealed" bag, was not, and water got into my chocolate chips.

I know I can no longer melt them for molds, is there anything I can do to save them? If I just use them in baked goods will they be ok? I am so bummed!!

TIA

Bummer! If you dry them out and repackage them in a sealed bag they will be fine for baked goods. Since you don't need the super smooth texture of melted chocolate in things like cookies it won't matter. You can also freeze them for future use.

Thanks for the reply. I laid them out on paper towels last night all across my kitchen counter tops. They are sticky this morning, but I'm hoping after another day in the dry Colorado air, they will be dried enough to use.

Crossing my fingers that it works! Thanks again.
