We are getting a chocolate fountain for Teacher Appreciation luncheon. One of the teachers said to add oil for a good flow. Does anyone know what kind of oil and the ratio of oil to chocolate?

TIA!

I don't know the ratio but I know it doesn't work if you leave it out - my firend told me about her disaster! Not sure about oil - it will need to be flavourless so rapeseed oil might be good.

If you buy the chocolate designed for use in a fountain, you won't need to add oil. It's available in specialty food stores and lately I've seen it with the Wilton brand candy supplies. If you want to use chocolate chips or hershey kisses, I've found that adding about 1/4 cup of canola oil per pound of chocolate works pretty well. You can always add more oil if it isn't flowing well so add a little at a time so as not to get too much. HTH!
