I need some tips on how to make these. The recipe I have found says to dip them in melted chocolate and let them harden in the refrigerator. I know to rinse them and dry them before I dip, but does anyone else have any more tips? I'm going to just melt chocolate chips. Some recipes tell you to add heavy cream, or butter. Anyone have a suggestion on what recipe to use?

(Please don't move this to the recipes board - it's VDay & I'll get more help here.)

HELP!

I just made some chocolate covered strawberries and they came out wonderful!!! I also made chocolate covered Pretzels, I used the Rold Gold Braided Twists...yummy
(Sorry I am happy as I had never done it before)

I used the Wilton Candy Melts(thanks to a tip from my neighbor)...Our Wal Mart had them on sale...but I do know that Michaels carries Wilton. I didn't have to refridgerate them and it took me mere minutes to do it.

As far as using chocolate chips, I don't know as I never tried it. Maybe some others will have some better tips for you on that.

Good Luck

We use dark chocolate. We leave the stems on the strawberries (just gives you a "handle" and looks more attractive!)

And lay them on wax paper or something similar while they chill in the frig.

I also get the strawberries with the stems...makes them easier to dip. Also it's helpful if you have a piece of stourfoam (sp?) and you can put a toothpick in the top of the strawberry and stick in in the foam upside-down so it doesn't come out as messy. I LOOOOOOVE chocolate covered strawberries, but I don't like to make them very much so I told DH to buy me some for today...I don't know if he will or not.

my mom and i tried to make chocolate covered pretzels using melted choc chips...it didn't work so easily...i might try the wilton's melting chocolate...or even ghiradelli has a melting chocolate! i've seen it at cost plus world market stores or supertargets...

The Wilton melting discs or similar brand are the best for making chocolate candy and dipping. My son (12) and I made chocolate covered strawberries last night for his teacher today. I usually make chocolate suckers for the various holidays and also make them to sell at a local store my mom works at.

When using the Chocolate discs, make sure to melt them slowly and stir several times while melting. I use a microwave to melt and the chocolate melts very well as long as you do it slowly and stir. Good Luck and Happy Melting to All!!:)

i usually add a little shortening to my chocolate chips and it works out fine.

YUM!!
