There are many versions of this recipe posted on the internet. The one I use probably is the most basic:

Chocolate Chip Dessert Cheese Ball

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter (no substitutes -- margarine stays too soft), softened
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans (It's not as pretty without the nuts, but I do leave them off when serving to friends who cannot have nuts.)
graham crackers sticks (I use both chocolate and regular.)

In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter and vanilla until fluffy. Gradually add sugars. Mix in chocolate chips. Shape into a ball. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. (I think this tastes better the next day, if you can wait!) Just before serving, roll cheese ball in pecans. Serve with graham crackers. ENJOY!!!

BTW, my children LOVE this snack!!

OK, back to packing for WDW. I have 2 hours until dh comes to pick me up!! I'm nowhere near ready!!! :wave2:

 Yummy!!! I'll have to give that a try!

Love this!! I've made it several times now and it's a huge hit!
Just be sure to tell people what it is -I've had several not realize that's it's sweet and so haven't tried the cheese ball with cookies!

I LOVE this - almost tastes like cookie dough to me... but note that when you first make it - it doesn't taste as good as after it has been in the fridge for a couple hours... I could eat the whole thing with the graham sticks --- YUM!

I had this today at a baby shower, and it is yummy! It was served with the graham sticks for dipping.

Thank you for posting the recipe. It sounds great.

I'm planning my son's Eagle court of honor. This will be perfect. Anyone have any other ideas for snacky stuff? We'll have cake and punch. We're also planning meat/cheese trays with rolls. I want some other finger type foods that won't take lots of last minute prep. Any thoughts?

My kids also like the fruit salsa with cinnamon-sugar tortilla chips and the little hot dog-type sausages cooked for hours in the grape jelly mixture in a hot pot.

Oh...this looks yummy! I've always made the "savory" cheeseballs, but this should be a big hit with the family...thanks for posting it!

I get RAVES on this dip every time I make it :)
