Hello...

Heading of to WDW next week.

I've got a cousin going with our group who was told that a restaurant
or pavillon is selling Chocolate Beer at WDW.

Does anyone know who is selling this Chocolate Beer??

Thanks.

1) OMG !
2) That does not sound remotely appetizing.
3) But, to each his own.

Not sure about that one, but Sam Adams makes a Chocolate Bock, and it is rather good. I would imagine it would be in World Showcase if anywhere.

Is your cousin talking about something like Young's Double Chocolate Stout? If so, most beer stores around here carry it, not especially a rare product. Probably no need to wait until you go to Epcot to try it.

I don't remember ever seeing chocolate stout at WDW, but some beer stands do sell random seasonal brews that seem to change frequently. Maybe just keep an eye out.

Believe it or not, chocolate flavors are extremely prevalent in many stouts. From simple chocolate hints in the flavor, to full on beers made with chocolate, or made to taste like chocolate. A quick search on BeerAdvocate pulled up 2000+ active beers for "chocolate stout".

Can't say that I remember seeing any chocolate stouts (or anything that could be confused for a chocolate stout) during any trip to WDW. And I would hopefully have noticed as those are usually one of my favorite styles (tied with milk stouts).

As a PP mentioned, it may have been rotating through at the Sam Adams kiosk. Otherwise I would suggest maybe trying the Swan/Dolphin restaurants/bars as they supposedly have a real solid selection.

I tried a "Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout" and thought I was going to vomit.

My neighbor brought it over new year's eve (hope he's not reading this). ;)

He left it here, as no one drank it, so a couple weeks later I thought I'd be brave and try it.

I muscled it down, more as a dare than enjoying it. It really was disgusting.

Someone once got lucky with that whole chocolate / peanut butter experiment, but believe me - the chocolate / beer experiment, move on.

Click here to see the dreadful combination.

Most Chocolate Stouts don't actually have chocolate, but use roasted malt that tends to have a bitter chocolate flavor.

There are a few beers that do use real chocolate with mixed results. If there was anything like this at WDW world, as others mentioned, my guess is that it was Sam Adams' Chocolate Bock. It's a winter seasonal that's available in bottles in the Winter variety pack. I've had it on tap and it definitely has a real cocoa taste. It was very interesting for the initial tastes, but became cloying by the time I was finishing the pint. I felt the Chocolate Bock worked best as a rare oddity, and could never imagine drinking more than one pint in a row.
