Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - UPDATED!

Hi, has anyone been to see this touring musical? It's on at Oxford over Christmas and I'm thinking of taking the older two girls to see it. The only thing making me hesitate is the awful parking in Oxford - we would probably go for matinee as I don't think DD (5) would stay awake for the evening performance - and it would be 'park and ride' to get there. Is it worth the £100 + ?

We saw it at The Palladium several years ago, it was amazing, I loved it, we had no children with us, we are just a pair of big kids!! I am sure your girls would love it, its brilliant when Chitty flies.

My sister-in-law has said she will drive us. Now I've got to decide on dates. DH has got the week before Christmas off but that week is always manic because it's DD's birthday on 23rd. He can't get any time off after Christmas, and the show ends on Saturday 2nd January. Might have to go for that date.

I want to see Chitty fly.

I saw it when it was on in Liverpool a while back and loved it... It's one of my favourite films (my mum watched it a lot when she was pregnant with me too so I think it must have started in utero! ) and the stage version is excellent

I'm still deciding when to go. Almost settled on the 2nd Jan - I am such a ditherer. I want to take the kids to a show every Christmas and I can't stand panto but I love Chitty.

We also saw it at the Palladium, had a great cast, if I remember rightly included Russ Abbott, Wayne Sleep, Victor Spinetti & Sandra Dickinson, can't remember others but knew a lot of them. A show I would definetly go see again.

I feel same but never been to one to find out if I would enjoy it. Never fancied seeing one.

Your children will love it fantastic show my son was in it for three weeks when it started it's tour in Plymouth in Julywhen chitty flies it is magical there are also 12 dogs in it which are little stars .

We are going on Saturday 2nd January for the matinee performance. I can't wait. We are quite poor, so I got the restricted view tickets, meaning that we are sitting in the Circle for a grand total of £85 for four of us. Woo hoo. The cheapest seats in the circle with an unrestricted view were £36.

I can't wait to see that little car fly. I am very scared of the child catcher - might have to hide behind one of the kids.

You will be glad to know that the child catcher is only on for very brief amounts of time so you will not have to hide behind your child to many times .

The kids will be relieved that their mother isn't humiliating them. I am so excited - I want to tell the kids but will resist.
