Is the Chip n' Dale Campfire open to people not staying at Fort Wilderness? We'll be over at CSR, but my sister and her family will be at Fort Wilderness and she asked us to visit for the evening. Is this welcome/permitted, is it frowned upon/akin to pool-hopping, or is it somewhere in between? Thanks! :scratchin

I think if the pool policy is no hopping then the other perks should work the same. That doesn't mean I agree with the policy.
On the other hand If I knew who you were and knew where you were staying and saw you at the Campfire I wouldn't "turn you in" anyway.
What ever you decide have fun!

I believe it's open to all Disney World resort guests. I actually had a related question, about how fussy they were about that resort guest thing, since I have an autistic teenager with a Chip n' Dale fixation, and we are not staying on property this time.

Hoping someone w/ more experience can give us the skinny- I'm sure someone out there knows what the actual policy is...
(but thanks, fanowalt, for saying you wouldn't turn me in ;)!)

The campfire is open to ALL WDW resort guests. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Sing-along starts at 8 pm during Daylight Savings Time (like now) and the movie starts at about 840 pm.

Just to set expectations, Chip & Dale come out at the beginning and go up on stage with our singing host for intro's and some light humor. Then while more songs take place they split the crowd 50-50 and walk among the guest rows of benches posing for pictures, autographs, waves, hugs, or high fives. Each character has a "handler" to shine a flash light, give guests instructions, or to take a picture if needed. Your chipmunk will get to you so there is no need to go to or crowd around him. It's not a sit-down chat - they spend about 15-30 seconds per group/family then move on.

Please remember to sing loud, sing on key, spell out "M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E" at the end. :rolleyes1

PS - nobody did the singalong better than Miss Sundee....

What ED SAID, plus SOMETIME they come out early and dance, play with the kids.

We had friends staying at The Swan and Dolphin come and visit us while at the FT. Just make sure you understand the transportation between the resorts. We didn't know they couldn't just drive their car and park at our site.

I have camped there many times and have spoken to many people that have come to FW from another DW resort for the evening to roast marshmallows and watch the movie. It is really nice. Although there are bleachers there is also a large area where you can lay out a blanket to sit on to watch the movie or bring your own chairs. There is also a concession there where you can buy snacks and also marshmallows to roast. It's a lot of fun and the evenings are beautiful. You all will enjoy it :)

Miss Sundee doesn't do the singalong any more , we haven't been to the Fort in a few years

Is there somewhere that post the movie schedules? I searched and found some for past months, but nothing for March or hopefully April.

It has been a long time since I visited the campfire, and remember I had difficulty in the bus transfers. Can anyone refresh my memory? I took the boats to FW and then what?

Mine LOVES C&D too! They are always wonderful with him!! We're staying at the Fort our next trip and expect to spend a few evenings at the campfire and sing-along.

True. But they can drive over to FW and park in guest parking, then take the internal bus to the campfire site. We did this just last week from AS Movies.

Incidentally, does anyone know if the FW campfire program used to be open to non-WDW guests, or if they used to be more relaxed about checking? I'm talking decades ago, like 25-30 years.

I grew up in Orlando, and have distinct memories of being at the campfire several times. We had cousins who would drive down from Michigan and camp at FW. Maybe they would sneak us in somehow, give my dad a parking pass or ID card or something? I can't remember.

I know we only stayed at FW once, in 1987 when I was 13. My dad let me drive the golf cart all around the property. His response when a CM yelled at me? "Keep going." :D

My wife and I stayed at All Star Movies last week and took our 6yo daughter to FW for the singalong and campfire. We then walked down to the beach to see the Electrical Light Parade and the MK fireworks. Amazing, and not so different (at least in my memory) from how it was ~three decades ago. FW is truly a magical place and I hope to stay there on our next trip!!!

The campfire has been open for everyone for as long as I can remember. I've never heard of them checking.

I guess I didn't explain correctly. What I meant was that now, if you arrive by car, the gate CM wants to see a KTTW card, and there are signs posted on the guard shack to that effect.

Now, maybe if you don't have one, you can bluff your way in. Don't know about that.

I guess if you arrived at FW by Disney bus or boat, no one would know you weren't a resort guest. For example, you could be parked at one of the parks and simply come over on Disney transportation. Then I agree, no one would ever know or check.

But if someone was coming from outside WDW, say a local Orlando family, my understanding is that they can't just drive up to FW and park.

I do it all the time. I just tell them that I'm going to the campfire and they wave me through everytime.

I've never seen a signing stating you need a KTTW card. They only ask to see your drivers liscense.

And what about HDDR or just eating at Trails End. FW is like any other resort on property. If you want to visit you can.
