Chip & Dale campfire: can anyone go?

My family and I will be staying off property during our visit in February. I heard about this Chip and Dale campfire and thought it would be a fun thing to do...but do we have to be guests to go to this?

You would have to use Disney transportation to get to the Campfire, so technically I don't think you'd be able to go, but I've never had a bus driver ask for my Disney ID to get on a bus so you could probably get away with it.

The easiest way to the Campground is a boat from MK. Once at Fort Wilderness you'd have to either walk ~1/2 mile or take an internal campground bus to the Meadows Trading Post, which is where the campfire takes place.

Yes, you can easily go. I don't think they really care if you are staying at the resorts or not. I live near WDW and have strolled around resorts many times without a problem. I've been to the campfire- it's very cute and a fun way to watch Disney movies.

Yes you can go. You just park in the main parking lot they have where you do the horseback riding and then you get on a Settlement bus to take you to that area.

Be warned, its busy there, there are metal bleachers to sit on so bring something comfy to sit on the bleachers with. There are only 2 campfire pits so if you aren't there early to stake a spot it gets difficult to toast any of your marshmellows. We got there 5 min after it started and it the two campfires were full and those people didn't move the entire time!

It can also get noisy and hard to hear the movie.

Is there much interaction with Chip and Dale? Does a 'face' cast member lead the sing-along? Also, since we're going in Feb., is it cold sitting outside to watch the movie? Thanks for any input.

And, (no surprise here...) the s'mores fixins are really expensive. I suggest that you bring your own and just buy the stick.

Our last trip at the end of August we stayed at Wilderness Lodge and went over one night for the Campfire.

The movie was the Snowball Express. (Which my Dad and son had never seen before and both enjoyed. )

The night we went wasn't crowded because Rain was threatening.
Bring Mosquito Repellant with you. The buggers got me even with some repellant on.

Nobody checks to see where you come from so if you park in the main lot and take the bus in, you should have no problems.

It really scared me, to see how many people allowed their little ones to run up to those fires with sticks in hand and then watched (or not) as the kids swung sticks with flaming marshmellows around.

I kept my 11 year old away from the fire before the movie started because I was afraid he would get injured by a flaming marshmellow wielding 4 year old.

After the movie started, most of the littles sat down with their parents so my son was allowed to toast some marshmellows for himself. I don't eat the things myself.

The sing-a-long before the movie was fun and Chip and Dale came around to shake all the kids hands.

Purchasing WDW admission media (i.e. Park Tickets) entitles one to unlimited use of WDW transportation.

We hardly saw chip and dale when we were there and if you did see them there was a mob around so it was hard to get to them anyway.

No face character leads the sing a long, just a cast member.

We had a hard time hearing the movie, it was just noisy there with a lot of people talking and whatnot. Its not quiet like a movie theatre.

We did get cold when we were there in December and left 5 minutes after the movie started for several reasons

1- Kind of cold
2- Couldn't hear the movie
3- Couldn't get near a fire pit to toast marshmellows with any relative ease. I think we spent more time waiting then toasting.

My expirence wasn't so hot but maybe I chose a bad night.

Unless they have raised the price we didn't think the s'mores kit was a bad deal. It was $5 and included a big bag of marshmellows, two hershey bars, a convenience store size box of graham crackers and two sticks. It fed the three of us and we had leftovers.

I second the bug spray. You might also want to bring a blanket or something to sit on. They have log benches and bleachers to sit on.
