I was just in the Philippines for work and thought about going to Enchanted Kingdom, but went to Ocean Park instead, perhaps next time I will go and then I will let you know if they indeed do rip off Disney (judging by their website, I am going to have to say that they don't at the moment, instead it appears that they get attractions that have been removed from other parks, for example Pirates 4-D, which used to be at Sea World)
I went to find the trip report, on another site, and it's actually Star City in
Manila.
Report is well more than half way down
this page.
disneyL0VE, remember that China is huge, and I think it was only 11 years ago that they got HK back, but according to wikipedia they will have their own version of autonomous gov't for another 40 years. I looked it up, and the distance between Beijing and HK is 1231 Miles. Hubby, who tends to know a little about those areas, says that while people can travel domestically where they want once paperwork is filled out, going to HK might not be allowed, since it would be easier to leave from there, or never go back home.
This isn't China, but it's also not a communist country...but hubby's Korean aunt and uncle were forbidden from visiting their sister in the US for 3 years. They applied each year to visit, and each year were denied permission to leave their country b/c of their work. They finally got to come, and stayed for a whole summer, since they didn't know if they would get permission in the future! If a non-communist country like Korea is that strict with their people, I can only imagine that a normal person from Beijing might not be able to go to HK easily or ever.
I don't know, though, hubby hasn't been to HK in many many years, since before it went back under China's wing, and hasn't been in china for a long time either, so he could be wrong, but with hubby's perspective, this sort of thing doesn't enrage me much at all.
