Chilkoot Charters - White Pass - Can we book day of?

Hi everyone!!

We're booked for dog sledding on our Skagway day from 945-12PM , but we also want to experience the While Pass Summit rail while there.

I see there is a 1PM White Pass Summit Rail available, but I am wondering if we can walk up and join after we exit the helicopter for the dog sledding? I am concerned to book the train in advance as we would be out the money if the sledding gets delayed due to weather.

Any advice? anyone here who was able to do both?

I walked up to the train depot and booked day of. Not saying it is like this every time. But the train started alongside the ship to pick up folks and they packed them in the cars. Then they pulled to the train station. We loaded into other cars, that were not even half empty. This was great since once you get to the top, they have everyone stand up, push their seats forward and then cross over to the other side of the train to allow others to see the views on the way down. Well since our car was only half full, we got to be on the scenic side on the way up and down. I think the cost was the same as if we had purchased on the ship. And like I said, time of year and number of ships in port can influence the number of passengers.
