Do IOA/US have a central location for getting your child measured? My son is 47 1/2 inches and eating his fruits and veggies in hopes of growing another 1/2 inch before we go in 2 weeks.. Our theme park here measures children and they wear a color coded ban so when they get on the rides they just show their band so you aren't waiting in line just to be turned down. Since he is so close I would hate to wait in the lines just to find out we cant ride.

Not that I've ever heard of. I know the minions ride has the "you must be this high sign" out front... Maybe others do as well?

Sorry I'm not more help, I guess I never paid attention.

the last time i was at the darkside was 4 months back.
at that time, the measuring of children was done by the TM's at the rides.
no central place for getting a color coded ban that would allow a child to avoid being measured over and over....

i have no idea if that has changed in the past months.

they do have the character board cut outs for height requirements at the front of the park when you enter.
that way, the family will know in advance of which rides they would need to do the child swap.

You're measured at the ride, just like at Disney. There are height charts at the front of each park (DS has his picture taken there every time, even though he's tall enough for everything now) and before you get in line at each attraction. There shouldn't be any surprises.

I say toss some black beans into his diet for the excellent protein and hope that helps. Remember that they do measure with shoes on, so it's not a doctor's visit type of height check. Practice standing straight and tall. And if he hits the mark, go on the MUST DO ride FIRST, when he's all stretched out from sleep, not scrunched down at the end of the day as we all are (ever notice how you have to adjust your car's seat when driving home from work then back again the next morning?).

And make sure he's wearing shoes with a thicker sole (good running shoes) instead of thin ones (flip flops or keds-style).

My son just reached the magical 48 inches a few months ago. They do have staff out front to measure him and in November they frequently measured him a second time before getting on the ride. I've been surprised that over the past couple visits they have not measured him at all even though he's clearly close to the height requirement.

Yep, they measure at ride entrance and sometimes right before ride. Just remember this is a precaution to protect our love ones and not to be mean. :thumbsup2

Like Disney, they measure 2 TIMES. One at the ride entrance and one sometime before you board .They are strict with the requirements.Universals rides are ALOT more intense then most of Disneys

Never say never. A week ago I measure my son and he was a 1/2" shy of 54". He's been drinking milk and getting lots of rest. When I measured him earlier this week, he has cleared the mark and measured 54 1/4".

Never underestimate the motivation of a 7 year old boy who wants to ride every ride : 0 )

As the OP have said they get measured before they enter the line and then they can get measured again just before boarding.
