Child's age for dining changing????

I agree, how in the world are they going to enforce this? Would be interesting to see. I mean some of the character meals get pretty busy and there are kids everywhere, how are you going to keep track of what. And what if we send my older son to get something for us because he is going back up for himself? Or what if a parent gets the adult food for the child?

I just don't see how they can enforce that either. Why don't they have a middle price for ages 10-13.......say, $15?? I would pay that. But $25 for my 10 yr. old seems like highway robbery.

I have a 9 yr old now and she has very adult "tastes". She eats mussels and salmon, she is a good eater as far as variety. But, she eats so little. And SHE eats more than my soon to be 12 yr old. So you're telling me it would cost $97 WITHOUT tax and tip to eat at Cape May Buffet?? For 5 of us? WOW. No wonder I don't do character meals/buffets too much anymore. I better start saving now. lol

I haven't heard it officially, but if they are going to be on the dining plan with the new MYW tickets, they may have to coordinate the tics with the meals, therefore the person 10 and up is considered an adult for the tics, and possibly the meals too.

Don't know for sure, but I do agree it is just too much to pay for a 10 yo to eat.... they usually are pretty picky at that age, too!

Once the age price thing changed for DS we cut our buffet dining in half, once DD is past 9 we will have to do the same thing--I'm sure the restaurants will be full, but I won't be paying $25.00 for my child to eat a few tablespoons of food. For us the character meals are just not important enough and we vacation frequently enough to not spend that kind of money. Seems to make more sense to change the age on the vouchers and leave everything else the same rather than set up a duel confusing system that creates havoc. Of course for many who plan, anything after Jan2 is up in the air--and my family wonders why I have not made dining reservations yet!

For a family of 5....before tax and gratuity....$125 at Boma , O'hana or some such place??? Don't think so!

As with everything, there is some potential upside to this. If character buffets become less popular due to price increases, the folks willing to pay the extra $$$ so little junior and missy can eat with the characters will have a much easier time making reservations.

I'm not one to grumble about Disney pricing, but if this is their plan they WILL lose plenty of buffet business. For every person who doesn't care about cost, there are 10 on a budget. I don't mind spending lots of money at WDW when I think I'm getting a good return on my investment, but $25 or more for a 10 year old at a buffet is not a value.

I don't think we will eliminate buffets entirely, but I'm sure we won't do as many as we have in the past. My kids are such opposites, it's DD7 that will eat the adult offerings (picture plates full of peel and eat shrimp at Chef Mickey's), while DS11 will probably exist on chicken strips and pizza for the rest of his life! If anything they should charge us the adult rate for the little one.
