childrens picture ID necessary?

I'm wondering if it would be a good idea for my kids (ages 5,6,6) to have a picture ID on their person. What does everyone usually do?

There is no need for this for the plane, if that's what you're thinking. In terms of having some sort of ID on them in case they get separated from you, that's never a bad idea. Just put it somewhere on their person (a pocket, for instance) but not hanging from their necks (too easy to get tangled, etc... not to mention risky for others to see). Keep it simple - name & a phone number to reach parents - hotel, cell, whatever. No need for home information, I don't think.

I have a picture ID of DD that the schools do here every year that I carry in my wallet, god forbid I should ever need it.

For my toddler I got a dog tag engraved at the pet store w our cell phone and last name and I'll just thread it onto his shoelace.

I've heard people keep an updated photo on them in case - God forbid - you loose track of your kids and need to show a castmember.

We leave on Saturday and I did the same thing. I made an ID tag with our last name, cell # and the name of the resort we are staying at. Walmart had a handy machine by the check-outs. I also made sure I had a current photo in my wallet.

I keep thinking, you know that when you bring an umbrella with, it won't rain. Same concept.

I found this idea on another thread and thought I'd pass it along.

Open up an ING DIRECT savings account and receive an immediate sign on bonus of $25. Plus you get $10 for every referral you make. But to open a seperate checking account to save for a vacation would be too expensive for relatively samll sums of money. We intend to make regular deposits to this account, and also deposit any extra cash, such as rebate checks, garage slae proceeds. etc. Also, any time we save something by reducing a bill we put that amount into this account. For example, say we save $30 a month by switching cell phone carriers. Then we put $30 a month into this account. That way we actually "see" our savings, instead of spending it on whatever.

To open an ING account you need a referral from an existing customer. I have some referrals left if you need one. You need to send me a PM with your first and last name and email address. I then provide ING with this info and they send you a sign up email. Happy savings!

I laminated a wallet sized family photo and put our last name, resort and cell phone number on the back. I ended up not using them. I was going to attached them to the kids fanny packs and that way they could say this is who I'm with. BUT...the autograph books didn't fit in the fanny packs and they were so small that we just made them either ride in the stroller or hold a hand. I suppose I should have just tied the photo onto a belt loop.

I do this when ever I go on a trip, as a matter of fact I carry one in my purse at all times. I have those Children Identifer kits, you can pick them up at any kids fairs or the the county fairs, police stations may have them too. You can also just make one. It has a current picture of my son which I update if we are going on a trip. I also put 2 or 3 computer printed pictures so you can give them out to people (god for bid) your child is lost. I also have a picture of his birth mark and all of his identifying information, weight, age etc. I also plan on putting my cell number, the resort we are staying at and a home contact number.

I can't image having to ask people if they saw a little boy 3 years old with brown hair in a place filled with thousands of little boys.

Anyhow I think this is a GREAT idea in what ever way it's carried out.
