We're in the process of organising DD1's passport. How did everyone go about getting a suitable photo of their baby/toddler?

I'm trying to take one of her in her high chair with a white sheet behind her, but I'm having trouble keeping her attention, without making her smile... :confused3

I took my two year old and five year old to CVS, but I let the post office passport office handle my 2 month old. No way was I going to try it myself.

My local post office had my LO lie down on a white sheet. He was only 8 weeks old at the time and getting him to look at the camera was a small feat. He is proof everyone takes a bad passport photo!

I might end up going to the PO too, but the only time she sits still is when she's asleep, and even then she moves around more then I want her to... :headache:

I found the stranger at the store meant my girls paid attention but were too weirded out to smile when they were little:)

That's an idea. I'll try a little more tomorrow, but also make an appointment at the post office.

If not the post office, try and see if the chemist does photos. The local one near us had a bunch of baby rattles and toys. I got to stand behind the person taking the pictures so that DH would look at me and was attracted by the rattles.

Nice to know DH still likes his rattles :rotfl:

My daughter was 2 months when I got hers done at Post Office. They took us into the back and laid her down on a white sheet while I held her body somewhat still and took a few and picked the best one.

:lmao:

I think I've got some photos that might work. My problem is DD is never in the one spot for long. I originally took her to a colour copy centre and they didn't even try to take photos, they just told me to go home and try the white sheet trick. However with a squirmy baby it came no where near working, and trying to restrain her just gets her upset :upsidedow

However I sat her in her high chair, with a white sheet behind her, and snapped as many photos as I could. The best one has a little food on her face :rotfl2: but hopefully between it and the other couple, one of them will be accepted.

What do you think?

I don't think they're as strict with infant/children photos. Kids change so quick. My LO looks nothing like his 8 week old photo but he's stuck with it until he's 5.

Nice pics, Bec. Have you taken in the form and the pics to see if they will accept one of these?

We had to get passport photos when the boys were 2m, 2 and 4. They were feral and we spent an hour in the Kodak shop getting acceptable photos. The baby one was dodgy, with an open mouth and the other two were not much better. I took them in to the passport office and the lady looked at the photos, looked at me, looked back at the photos and said "were these taken at Charlestown on Sunday?". I said yes and she laughed and said "I was at the Kodak shop - these will be fine!". Thank goodness she took pity on me.

:lmao: Yeah I'm not sure how you could do it without restraining them somehow...

No, I haven't been in yet. I need to replace mine as well, so I need new photos of myself first... Hmm, perhaps that's what I should be doing instead of this... :rolleyes2

We just went through the torture that is getting passport photos done! I feel your pain OP, and although we don't really have a toddler anymore (youngest is 3), it was not as easy as I thought it was going to be. The two youngest kids refused at first, to even get the photo taken, it wasn't until I said they couldn't come on the holiday if they didn't get them done that they agreed. And when it was DS3's turn, we had to take his glasses off, and his eye turned in as usual, which confused the poor photographer no end  She took at least 12 photos of him trying to get his eye straight until she gave up. I don't see how it could matter if they are crooked, they will most likely still be crooked when we go to use the passport anyway, so his eyes need to match ;)

Thank goodness we don't have to do that again for a while!
