Hi Guys,

Just a quickie.....

Just getting round to thinking about packing and so my first quick query.....

I am taking satchets of Calpol and Nurofen in case we need them for the girls whilst away. Just debating whether to take a bottle of each (or extra stachets) or can I buy Calpol in the supermarkets or is there a US equivalent??

Thanks in advance,

Ali ;)

I didn't see actual Calpol or Nurofen as brand names there but there were plenty of the US equivalent things, in Walgreens, Walmart etc. Walgreens do their own 'branded' things too, I suppose similar to Boots.
The Walgreens near to us had a pharmacist in it (maybe they all do?!) so you can always double check what you're buying I suppose!
We took 4 calpol and 2 nurofen sachets with us 'just in case' and didn't need them, but we did have to buy some cough medicine as all of us got a tickly cough, hence I had a good nosey around at the medicine section. There was a really good variety of stuff in the Walgreens.

When we were in WDW last year unfortunately Adam our DS took poorly with a temperature and sickness we got Tylenol and it was great, what we had left we brought home and when he was poorly at christmas with the dreaded bug we gave it to him and it really is good, have none left now willl stock up when we go in Aug.

Hope you dont need to use it tho, and have a good holiday:goodvibes

Tylenol is a popular brand, although i have never used it.I always take Calpol+Nurofen from home-i worry that using a brand my child has never had before could cause them an allergic reaction etc...Rather take with me what i know my child is fine using.
I take a bottle of each, plus sachets to take out for the day-just in case.x.

I've got a bottle of calpol packed in our suitcase along with an assortment of other things ......;) Have used Tylenol before with no problems and it certainly did the trick :thumbsup2

You can get kids Tylonol and Motrin in resorts and stores alike. Motrin is ibuprofin and can be given every 6-8 hours where tylonol is every 4. I live in the US and have the reverse problem, my kids have never had calpol so when we are in England I always bring Brand new packages of the things I use here with me. Its always good to bring Benadrly (which hey do sell here) in case your child has a reaction to something, you never know. Good luck with your trip. Let me now if you have any other questions.

Neurofen is also known as Ibuprofen and easily available in the US and in much larger packs, we always stock up when visiting :)

we took our own Calpol. The kids also used Tylenol with no problems.
As ours had both been ill in the days before we went away the Doctor did a prescription for a generic ibuprofen (nurofen) and because it had a pharmacy sticker on it we were allowed to take it on the plane in the clear plastic bag.

Thanks for your replies :thumbsup2

If we've got space I think I will pack a bottle of each as I've got them anyway......... but thanks for the advice on the other brands available, it may come in handy at some point (although hopefully not!!!)....

I'm also packing some Piriton as our eldest DD has a 'mild' peanut allergy so we carry that routinely anyway.

Thanks again :goodvibes

Can't believe how quick this holiday has come around :cheer2: Only 10 sleeps to go :lmao:
