Children's Meals

You would not believe the things my daughter will eat if its in a Mickey plate.

I had a gastric bypass three years ago and cannot eat fatty foods or sugar without being sick. While the kids menus do offer smaller portions for the most part they are not appropriate for those who have to monitor what they consume.
I have found that Disneyland is offering healthier faire. The park menus http://www.*****************/DisneylandMenus/dlmenus.html are helpful to study ahead of time. This trip my D-DIL and I have decided with our two mouse size appetites we will just be splitting our meals. Zip locks will be my friend.

Did you see my post that I had read you can bring a note/card from your doctor and only pay kid's prices for buffets?

This site doesn't like linking to what I assume is dlresortinfo. Bummer since they have the best (IMO, although I was looking at allears and it's better than I first, second, and third thought) menus...

Mouse size appetites, I like that!

I order kids meals all the time. My favorite is the kids pasta at Plaza Inn with the addition of a side salad, it is a perfect dinner.

I also see that french market has a kids meal that includes a GRILLED chicken breast, I plan on trying that one when we go over Christmas/New Years this coming December.

My favorite kids meal is at Pizza Port in tomorrowland. It used to by ravioli, now its a different cheese filled pasta. You can get it with the white sauce- very yummy! Comes with grapes and carrots (and drink). The chicken at plaza inn is pretty good too. When I dont like the kids menu, I usually talk one of my kids into sharing an adult meal with me.

Yes TY. I have my card from surgeon. Will use this if we do Goofy's Kitchen

Has anyone ordered a child's meal for an adult at a table service restaurant? :)

About a year ago, the man at the table next to ours at the Blue Bayou ordered from the children's menu with no difficulty at all. I've asked for my 19 year old son to be able to do that at the Blue Bayou as well, and they let me, but said they would charge a bit more. My son doesn't have a small appetite, he just doesn't like anything on the adult menu.

Well here's an interesting one. The family were are going with just finished booking their trip. They have a 4 and 2 yr old. They were told that if they order an extra plate for the 2 yr old at a sit down restaurant they will be charge a nominal fee. :confused3 What??? I thought that toddler under 3 were free to share off others plates.

This is coming from who, though? Travel agent? Disney dining? Neither of those know anything about the actual workings within the restaurants.

Also, what restaurant? Only one I know of with a split plate fee is Blue Bayou.

Was this a buffet? Perhaps the people on the phone were confused?

Or just have them let the kid eat off of their plates without asking them to bring another. Or perhaps they were thinking that he needed them to split the meal, which at least at Blue bayou means that each will get their own salads (for adult meal) and sides, pretty "plating", etc. (that doesn't really affect the kid's meal, but I don't remember seeing a split plate charge for the kid's menu).

But really, unless they were talking directly to the servers at the restaurants, I wouldn't put too much stock in what their TA or Disney Dining said.

We just was there from Nov 30th-Dec 0th 2007 and we did the kids meal alot, even at restaurants we would order 2 kids meals and maybe a side order or so and that would feed 4 of us.

We really saved alot of money and not to mention this was the first time I didn't gain weight on a trip. We even ordered room service @ DLH several times and we would order 2-3 kids meals to feed 4 people, it was great and will definitly do this again the adult portions are just to big. Have fun

Just as a fun side note, if you go to Carnation Cafe in DL. The kids can order a peanut butter sandwich palate. (I'm not sure of the exact name.) Anyway, the kids get to make their own PBJ and then they have "palates" filled with raisins, marshmallows, bananas, chocolate chips etc. to put on to their sandwich. It is so FUN for them!!!!:)

This is great. I knew you could order CS meals in kid's sizes, but didn't know you could do this at table service. I see they are now offering some toddler meals..wonder if that'senough for me :)

Had the kid's meals at Rancho and Plaza this weekend. No one batted an eye! If you want to get soda instead of the juices at Rancho, when you pay ask for a small cup (along with the special straw if you want it or have someone at home who might) and then you go back in to fill it. The lady at the Plaza didn't understand, and then the cashier was a bit clueless as well, so I just got a water (didn't need soda anyway).

I also got a salad (3.79) at Plaza, and the combo of the penne pasta, half-breadstick, carrots, apples, water, and the salad was VERY filling, and came in under what the adult meal would have been (and I wouldn't have had salad or bevvie included). Fabulous.
