Childrens Ears on the plane Please help

One thing to keep an eye out for when using the earplanes is nausea. My DS10 put them in at the begining of the flight and a little while later he started complaining of his stomach being upset. It kept getting worse (as I was having thoughts of a puking 10 year old!) and suddenly got the thought that maybe it had to do with the earlanes. I had him take them out and almost instantly his nausea evaporated. Weird but true!

I nursed DD at 8 or 9 months on a flight to CO, it was no problem - in fact now that I think about it, she didnt even nurse on one part of the landing, and didnt have any problem!!

I dont know if I would use the ear planes on an infant, or child under 2, I'd definately ask the doctor... I think they have smaller ear canals, so maybe they dont have the problems?

I was reading online that they have pediatric ear planes but I think I may just nurse her going up and down. I bought a seat for her on the plane because I didn't want o hold her the whole time! Did anyone have any issues with you nursing her on the plane?

Someone always has an issue with nursing in public, even when you are totally covered(which I feel you should be in social situations where others could be uncomfortable)...they still know what you are doing under there and are freaked out by mother nature. Do what you feel is right for your baby and they can discuss their trauma with their therapist when they get home.

Earplanes work wonders for DD and also myself. No pain at all when using them for take off and landing. DD has been using them since she was 5 with no complaints.

I have had good luck with the Earplanes too! I also pack lollipops for my 5-year-old daughter for takeoffs and landings. They are much safer than hard candies, which can be a choking hazard, and seem to have the same effect as gum. Have a great trip!

My 9 year old cries every single time from the pain. We've tried earplanes, chewing, swallowing, holding breath, Benadryl etc...nothing seems to work.

I feel so bad for her. :sad2:

I had this problem with my son until last year when we flew. I hated when it came to landing. He would scream like he was being murdered. Last time I tried ear planes but they fell out before we landed. I was starting to panic but when we started to land he started to sip water which made his ear pop and we had a happy landing. Now I buy a bottle of water before we get on the plane and hand it to him when it is time to land.

I would also like an answer tp pedro2112's question. This is my kids 1st plane ride and they do not have any ear issues. Do I need to bring stuff for them to chew/suck or do you all do this because your kids have problems or issues with their ears??

We flew last Sept with our 3 kids, 8, 3 & 3 mo. (at that time). DS8 has always had tons of ear infections, he had tubes when he was younger but they have since fell out. We had no trouble with any of our kids on the flight. With the baby, I just nursed her during take off and landings. With the other 2, I bought gum but forgot to give it to them, they were fine.

My son is 6 and has flown before (to DW as a matter of fact!) and he did just fine. I will just nurse my daughter going up and coming back down. I am considering the Benadryl too. She has taken it before with no reactions. But this way I will know her ears are clear and she will probably conk out for the flight too!

Does anyone know what the youngest age is to use the Earplanes?

My DH swears by them and I would like to get them for DD who is 2.5.
