What about nice dress shorts for kids (8 yr.)? Of course, not on the formal and semi-formal nites, but all the other ones!

I would say dress shorts for an 8 year old is pushing it. I have boy/girl twins and they've been on DCL at ages 3 and 4. I had both of them dressed in shorts outfits-like the kind you see at Easter and they looked cute. I've seen many toddler sized dressy outfits that include shorts, so I felt comfortable dressing my kids in them, I would dress them in the same outfits for church, a wedding or other special occasion. But, I feel that when my kids get older (5-6) that they would need to understand that they're expected to follow a dress code.

Mine are boy/girl twins as well and don't like to dress but will have to tell them that is the way it is!!

Tell them not to fret over it though. My DH would ask me each night what he needed to wear-shirt & tie or polo shirt and khackis. As soon as dinner was over he'd automatically go back to the cabin and change back into shorts and a t-shirt. They will have plenty of time to change after dinner and won't miss any of the activities. If you send your kids to dinner with the club, they can wear shorts and t-shirts then.
