I know I and many others have inquired about this but I am really stumped.

My boys will be 4 and 17 months when we sail at the end of October. I would assume people are dressing in summer clothes (and taking jackets or sweaters).

But for little ones and they are boys, they don't wear dresses or capri's if they wear khacki's or navy pants what type of shirts. Can they be cute matching shirts or do they need to have collars?

Any info from those of you with young boys would be great!

Hi,
We are going the end of November. I have a couple dressy outfits for the formal nights. They are just the 3/4 piece sets. I got them on sale they were so cheep..they will be disposable clothes. ( little linen pants vest tie & dress shirt) For the other nights I lucked out and got a bunch of stuff at a summer sale in a boutique. The sets are a couple short sets...like you would wear for a holiday...then some khakis ? whith some cute linen shirts.
I think little boys look dressed in short sets but your right they should have a collar. It is not like a grown man comming in with hairy legs to your table. LOL Laurie :)

My son will be 9 when we sail in Oct.
I luck out though for dinner wear. My son attends a private school and his school uniform consists of Navy Slacks, White button down shirt and a red or blue tie. He also must wear black shoes with black socks.

The nice thing about all these clothes is that are are wrinkle resistant and made more comfortable than normal kid formal wear. Basically they are designed for kids to wear everyday and be comfortable.

You can buy the stuff at www.frenchtoast.com
Their clothing starts at size 4 and goes through adult.

Hope this helps some.

At the beginning of our seven day cruise, my 3 yr old dd was wearing dress up dresses etc., but by the end of the cruise she wore whatever she had worn for the day. It was too tiring and time consuming to change her for 45 minutes just to put her back in play clothes for the club. I did the dress up thing myself for the entire cruise.

DCL has softened their statement about children's clothing for younger kids at dinner. They now say:

Are children expected to follow the same dress code as adults?
Each parent or guardian would be the best judge of what attire is appropriate for our youngest cruisers. Guests who are age 13 or older would probably be most comfortable wearing attire similar to what is recommended above for all the ship's passengers.

The outfits you have planned sound perfectly FINE. Enjoy! :)

Sure Michelle, just give my DD (also a Michelle) one more reason to be clothes happy. As if a budding teenage girl didn't have enough reasons to want more clothes than anyone can possibly wear - now she'll find out Disney recommends she dresses like a "grown-up". To say nothing of the heart failure her dad is going to have when he sees her all dressed up like that.;)

TEASING! Actually both mine are looking forward to that part. They were pretty good about it at 8/10 and 10/12 on previous cruises. At 13/15 not a problem.

Not sure where you usually shop for your little guys, but I was just at Gapkids and they have perfect stuff for both ages. Another great place is Gymboree. Their boys' stuff is cute and they are still having summer sales. Classy, yet comfortable. I think that if they wear "izod" type shirts with khakis or navy pants, they will fine. I don't think they need button-downs. Don't sweat it too much, they're little and nobody will expect to see them in a suit!

FantasticDisFamily - my DD8 is a clothe-a-holic and has already planned her wardrobe for our trip at Thanksgiving. This trip has given her the perfect excuse to peruse all the catalogs looking for formal wear. My DH just looks at her like she's from Mars. Or is it Venus?

I think matching shirts sound fine for children their age. At 4 and 17 months they will be adorable in whatever you dress them in.:D
