The guy I work with has a son with ADHD and he said when his family goes to WDW they get a disability pass so they do not have to wait in lines for the rides, his son cannot handle staying in line or in place for a long period of time

Is this true and if so where do you get one? We are going with my niece in Oct and she is ADHD, she has to take medicine everyday to control her symptoms....I am worried about her staying in line for along time, she has a lot of little tics and is very impatient at times...her attention span is very short and she gets frustrated easily...

If anyone else has had any experience with this I would appreciate your imput

Thanks in advance

Go to guest services at the first park you visit. The child must be with you to get the card, and it is for the child and up to 5 other guests. It will not get you to the front of any lines, but it can give you access to a quieter, less constrictive waiting area. It's called a Guest Assistance Card. You can check out the disAbilities forum here (it's down below the family forum) for more info!

As was already mentioned, the card is not a pass and isn't meant to shorten or elminate wait in line. It is called a Guest Assistance Card and is a tool to let the CMs know what sort of assistance is needed. There is information about Guest Assistance Cards in the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of the disABILITIES Board.
We have been to WDW with a number of people with ADHD. One thing we found with my nephew was that he was able to wait much better for things he wanted to go on. He has a major meltdown (sitting on the floor and pouting) in the Country Bears after about 15 minutes of waiting. But, he really wanted to go on Space Mountain and would have been able to wait much longer than the 1/2 hour he was in line.

Other things that will be helpful to shorten your wait are to use FastPass and to get to the parks early. By getting thre at opening, you can usually get on a lot of attractions with less than a 10 minute wait. Besides that, there are less crowds and less congestion.
