Started a new topic as I doubt many have seen where this was previosuly posted.

But in tonights semi-final of BGT a young girl hysterically broke down crying when she lost her way during her song.
It's pretty disturbing to watch see here:

We've already had one young girl crying on stage after not making it through to the final - but this was something else.

Poor kid, there must have been a lot of pressure live in front of 14million+ and she was given a second chance and came back with this wonderful performance

She came 2nd in the vote so it went to the judges and she was put through to the final!

Personally I think this is ridiculous she clearly cannot cope with the emotional stresses of the contest, and while I admire her courage for coming back how will she cope with double the pressure in the final tomorrow after tonights pretty draining performance??

So my point is surely this raises some ethics about children performing live on TV in such high pressure environments. BGT seems to have got so big this year and even the adult contests can't take the stress (see Susan Boyle) let alone 10 years olds.
I don't know about you but I found this whole episode extremely upsetting (it reduced my mum to tears) and I think there needs to be some sort of discussion as to whether this should be allowed????

I don't have a problem at all. If the kid were being forced into it by a crazed parent that'd be different. If this is something she wants to do then let her. The crowd seemed wildly supportive of her. Sure it's heart breaking, but is it any less heart breaking if it were an adult or an old lady? The "biz" is rough that's for sure, but children performing on live tv is something I am fine with.

So is the question should the be allowed to compete? Or like the title of the thread suggests, just not on live tv? Personally, if its what they want, Id let them. If the child really had no talent, and the family let them do it, then I would probably have issue with it. But if the child is talented and wants to compete, I'd let them. Live tv or not.
