Does anyone know what the age limit is for children especially at the Disney restaurants/buffet? I read on this site that the buffect at Boma is up to 11 however when I call they are telling me its 10 therefore I would have to pay adult prices for my 11 year old - BUT he so graciously said she can eat from the children's area if she doesnt like anything from the adult area!

We are struggling with the decision of purchasing the DDP or paying cash since our 11 year old DD is a small and picky eater. :confused3

Disney considers three different age groups for both ticketing and dining.

Ten and older is adult.

Ages 3 through 9 is child. At any buffet or other All You Can Eat this is the only age range that is charged the child price. If on a Dining Plan and not a buffet they must order from the Children's Menu.

Age two and under is free for ticketing and buffets. If any food is specifically ordered it is charged for. Normally it is expected that for this age range in menu service that the infant will share food with someone else.

DiznyMagic, just wanted to add that we stopped using the dining plan as soon as our oldest son became a "Disney adult." Our boys are ages 5, 11 and 12, so we now choose our fixed-price meals very carefully. (We do have APs and the TIW card, so that's a significant savings.) But if you're interested in dining at AKL, we absolutely recommend both Jiko and Sanaa. They are both great alternatives, and our pickiest pre-teen never has difficulty ordering from the kids' menu, while our more adventurous older pre-teen can order whatever he's like (often appetizer and soup, instead of an entree.) It's far more cost-effective for us with pre-teen "Disney adults."
