How do they check to see if a 5 year old is staying there??

Do the children going into the pool area have to show a

room key???

Thanks

I believe that everyone over the age of 3 has to have a room key, but I could be wrong. You would need it for your young children in order to do the EMH's at the parks. Since kids under 3 don't pay anything, they don't need the key.

I've gotta hope that a 5-year-old isn't going to SAB without an adult. They can check the adult's ID.

That's for sure.

I was just wondering if my grandson would be need his key to get in, also we have a 21/2 Y.O. grandaughter who won't get a key.

We've always only had to show one key for our family. We only take one to the pool. We try to take as few valuables as possible.

I think someone posted recently that SAB had been essentially "roped off" and they were checking IDs very carefully, so you might as well be prepared to show ID for anyone 3 and over - it will save you a long walk back up to your room!!!!

When we were at Cape May Cafe for dinner in April, the gates were wide open and we were able to wander around...not sure if that is normal at all, but I didn't see one hint of security no matter what entrance we were at...

We also walked thru SAB many times without anyone asking for a room key (which is good, because we were staying at OKW. But, no flames....we weren't swimming, either. We were just showing dd where she COULD swim in May if she wanted to.) However, when we go next week, it will be Memorial Weekend and ALL pool hopping is suspended...I am expecting a lot of security around the pools then.

Oh, and on the EMH's....when we were there in April, we were REPEATEDLY told by the CM's that we needed to only show ONE room key per party. I found that VERY interesting!!!

Always just needed 1 room key, if that, sometimes they don't check at all.
Up to 6 at a time went in. I've been to SAB at some of the busiest times of the year and while crowded there was still plenty of room for more.

Enjoy

And everyone in my group, kids included, had to show their room ID.

Our entire family, including the kids had to show ID each time we entered the pool area. They also put a bracelet on everyone. If they don't see a bracelet they will come right over and ask for ID.

Is ID your room keycard?

How does that old adage go - Consistentcy thou art a gem?

My DH & I were approached by a "very bundled up" CM when we walked through SAB to get to Beaches 'n Cream one cold December day. I think there were only two people in the pool at the time (both kids, LOL). I think one of the lifeguards was wearing what we in Minnesota call a" Snowmobile Suit" so I was surprised to see anyone at all in the pool.

Anyway, I was surprised to have a CM stop us and ask to see our room keys. I told him that we were staying at the BWV and only taking a shortcut to get to the restaurant - which should have been obvious as we both had on street clothes & shoes and were not carrying beach bags. Maybe two 50-somethings looked dangerous to him? We certainly had no intentions of "Pool crashing!"

Best wishes-

LOL! Cute story, Carol. We often take a shortcut through there to B&C too. I've never been stopped, but it is usually Dec. or January, so the pool area isn't full.

I wish this was the case. We were there 5 days (May 1-6) and only got "checked" one day. Even that day all they did was give us three wrist bands. They never even looked at our room key. The rest of the time, nothing. It would be nice if it was a little more secure.

Poorman, as you can see from the many different experiences posted here, the answer to your question is a resounding... maybe! I'd bring all of the ids with me just in case since it's easier than hiking back to the room and fetching them and if you're asked for all of them, you'll have them and if you're not asked ( or only asked for one id ), then no harm done.

FYI - we were at SAB last July 4th week and the kids needed the room key to get a band..

Almost always maybe we had to have all our room keys for identification. We asked once what they looked for since all the Disney resort room keys look the same. The cm said the number tells them. Sometimes most of the time usually maybe in the evening we didn't have to have all the room keys just one was ok for the family to get wrist bands. So I agree with jarestel, MAYBE.

I did hear a lifeguard ask some guests where their wrist bands were as they were in the water. They had to leave. Another time I heard a guest tell one of the id checker cms that she was having guests come down to the pool and would need a few more wrist bands. He said sorry only resort guest are allowed to use the pool. She was very upset and told him she paid a great deal of money to stay at YC so she needed the wrist bands. He again said no. She left and waited until another cm was working the id check point. She asked again as if she didn't know and was given the wrist bands with out question. So like many of Disney policies...depends on which cm you talk to.
