Children - Age and Outside Commitments....

DD 11 plays softball 3 times a week, 2 hours a day. She also does dance 1 day for an hour. In the winter, she does basketball 3 days a week and then we hop right back into softball for the spring, again 3 days a week. She also has CCD 1 day for an hour.

DD 8 is on a travel team for soccer. She practices 3 times a week at 2 hours a practice, plus games on Saturdays. She also dances 1 day a week for an hour. In the winter she plays indoor soccer an hour away, and she has practice for that once a week, (since it is so far away). Then we are back to soccer again in Spring. This does include the added practices for when they are in tournaments, or the tournaments which are at the least 3 games, over a 2 day period.

I have to say that I love watching them do something they love! It really is a lot of running around and some days we don't get to sit together at the dinner table bc we are grabbing something and eating it in the car, but they love to do these activities. As long as they keep their grades up and are happy, I will continue to be their cab driver and cheerleader!

My son is 9 and he plays football. He is at practice 5 days a week for 2 hours each day. Games are on Saturday's. After school starts, it goes to 3 days a week and goes down to 1.5 hours a night. Whew..I can't wait! Its exhausting for me to run backa nd forth and I can't get anything done at home!

That is insane and unnecessary. The only thing this much practice time does for kids is leads to major injuries down the road from overuse of undeveloped bodies. :sad2:
