Childcare?

Is there really childcare for all your children? I had thought I read somewhere that they only do 3 + ? If they have something for all the children, how much per hour would it be?

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking, but there is childcare for kids younger than 3. In our area, daycare centers get about $210/week for infants and toddlers.

Why is it out? We use Fairy Godmothers all the time. DS is old enough for the clubs now, but we still use FG so he can get to bed at a decent hour.

OOOH! I misread? Do Fairy God mothers come to your room and babysit all your children?

Are they 14.00 an hour? I feel kinda weird for a stranger coming in but I would really really like to see the Cirque du Soleil show with no children.

They are pretty expensive....but for a night out, worth it to us! I can't remember when an extra charge kicks in for more kids.

Disney's recommended sitter service is

kidsniteout.com

They are a bit more "corporate" They come with forms for you to sign, a uniform. Most of them bring toys for kids to play with.


FG is a family run service, so it's smaller in scale, no web site. They've been in business around 25 years. We've like our sitter so much from FG that sometimes we have trouble leaving...we just want to sit and talk to them.

Do you happen to know what FG charges for 4 children?? The kids night out one says 21.00 a hour, which isn't bad at all with four kids!! Four hour min though.. Totally doable!!

I'll look around and see if I can find the info....Can't imagine it would be more. They do require one hour of travel time and a certain hour minimum. I think our total was $64 the last couple times.

One note of what we did: We slated in a half-hour time of "get to know the sitter" on our dime. Then, we had a code for if one of us didn't feel comfortable with the sitter.

But like I said, we liked our sitters so much we practically just wanted to stay there and visit. One was retired from military service, and one works for Disney. Even when we return, we end up chatting for at least 20 minutes to catch up.

We used one sitter once, and have used the other sitter about six times (she just had more availability.)

We just used Kids Nite Out for our ten month old twins. In our case, we had to have two sitters because the babies aren't walking yet, but they offered to find (and did) a sitter who would care for both. At first I thought that was great, but then I remembered that even I get tired at the end of the day taking care of two babies, so we went with two sitters so that each baby would have a caretaker. It was very expensive, $14 an hour for both babies, but worth it. Our sitters were long-time friends, one in college the other a law student. Both were friendly and professional and the babies did just fine.

From now on, babysitting services will be factored into the budget when we travel. It worked out really well.
