Childcare Fees

I have a previous post I do provide all meals also. All daycare payers please remember that all fee's you pay are not all profit. We do have operating expenses. Toys, arts & crafts, wear and tear on our home furnishings, carpet, etc. Keeping things up to code, training, safety supplies I know I spend $300.00 a week just on food. By the time I deduct all expenses sometimes I wonder why I do it. But I love my job and it allows me to be home with my own children even though they have to make great sacrifices at times for my attention and their privacy.

Wow-we pay $55.00/week for our child during the summer-30.00 during the school year. He is there about 10 hours a week during school, 35 during the summer. The local Y has about the same rates.

When DS was 2 and I had a newborn I was paying $2100 a month. Oldest DS is now 6 and I pay $7.50/day for after school care or $26 for days he is not in school. For DS4 I pay $820 a month for full time preschool. The center is open 6:45 - 6, he is there from about 8:15 - 4:30. The $820 includes two snacks a day plus lunch.

My DD's are in (half day) K and I pay $135 per week all year long for both. Before rates went up a couple of years ago, it was $125 per week - even when Hannah was 2 and Emily was 1. I have been getting a great deal, and great care so I have been pleased.

The rate stays the same even when they go to first grade (all day), so I may have to research my other options at that time.

Now, I'm really  because I'm 23! Ack! It must be because I live in the country (literally). :sad2:

I'm fortunate, blessed, spoiled and add any other word for it to be able to be a stay at home mom (I work 10 hours a week teaching aerobics)- looking at some of the fees equated to yearly really shocked me, I couldn't afford to go back to work full time - the costs are staggering...I'd be netting what I currently make or less...that's not including travel expenses, clothing allowance, etc...please no flames,I'm not passing judgement... I occasionally long to go back to work full time, but will have to look at it closer to see if it's economically feasible, and if the "pluses" outweigh the "minuses" in my situation. Thanks to the OP for asking the question!

That is why I am working on staying home when the baby comes in January. If I go back to work, the yearly cost of daycare will be $24,960. That is insane. As it is, I am going to keep my daughter in 3 days a week for the preschool program she is in and that is going to be almost $10,000 a year with me not working, but I just can't continue working and paying that much for 2 kids. I started doing home parties at night so I can pay for the preschool.
