Childcare Fees

our daycare follows the school system calender, if the school closes, so does the daycare with the only exception being in-service days, so we pay a different amt every month. We pay about $7.50 an hr just to have them there from 730 until 845 am. We have twins so that's $15 a day! During the summer it's about $26 a day, with a 10% discount for the second kid. Most home daycares are cheaper, but nobody wants to take kids before 8 am around here.

I forgot, we have to send lunch for full-days, they only provide snacks. We also have to pay registration fees, usually $20 or $30 per kid, each fall and summer.

I have been a licensed provider for 10 years. Currently, I charge $35 per day. I am in Mass.

I want your job. :earboy2:

I was a nanny years ago,and believe me, she earns every penny!

It's a fantastic, rewarding, fun, challenging, EXHAUSTING job!

Oh, I know she earns every penny. My Mom is a home daycare provider and I work part time there and I also semi Nanny three kids (ages 3, 8, 8). I was saying that I want her job because she makes WAY more than I do. But, that is to be expected because of her experience and (no offense) age. I graduate college next month and I hope to land a good job making the same or more money though.

I pay $220 a week for my daughter to go to Tutor Time (it's a national chain. It goes from infants through kindergarten). She is in the Pre-K 3 program now. It is a full year program so I don't have to worry about summers or anything. When she was an infant, I paid $250 a week. It is now up to $260 a week for infants. There is a 10% discount for multiple children.

I plan on staying home with this baby, but keeping my daughter in the Preschool program for 3 days a week. That will cost me $190 a week.

I pay (ugh) $412 per WEEK for full time for my son who's 4 and my daughter, who's 3 months. Guess what...I quit my job to stay home, as this eats up a TON of my check and it's just such a hassel. DH and I will be very broke for a while, but to us it's so worth it!!

I'm going to watch a friends daughter who's 1 1/2 and I will charge her $30 day.

Before I had to fire her, my sis-in-law watched DS at our home (this is pre-new baby) for $150/week. It was a good gig, but wasn't meant to be. :(

Wow - most of you pay a LOT less than I do! My son goes to a preschool - its got one of the best ratings in our area. The infant room was $220 a week and included nothing (except table food when they are ready for it). BUT there were 3 teachers to 9 babies and the state ratio is 2 to 10 - so this was a lot better. Starting this week DS moved up to the pre-toddler room (he's 11 months old). Its $187 and he gets 2 snacks and lunch provided by the school. There are cheaper daycares. But we started at a cheaper one - and this is our third - and you get what you pay for. He loves this place. I dont know if they offer a discount for the second child. But I doubt it. They dont have to - they have a huge waiting list for every room. Someone pulled some strings to get us in.

I paid $165 a week for part-time at a daycare center for my first daughter. I usually only had her there 10-15 hours per week, so if I were paying hourly that's $11-$16 an hour. Eventually my MIL offered to watch her, which I gladly accepted even though it was a 45 minute drive one way.

When I had my second daughter MIL didn't think she could handle 2 small children, so I found in home daycare from a certified teacher. She charged $5 an hour per child, with a $1/hr. discount for the second child. I make good money but $9/hr. seems like a lot. I recently cut back my hours at work, and work only every other weekend and on-call. I really miss working, but I'm glad I get to spend the time with my kids.

I pay $238/wk after my 10% discount. So - I think it would be $265. DS is 17 months almost. At 18 months, it will go down to $200/wk. He is in a center...gets bfast and lunch there. There are cheaper programs around here, but where he is - it's in my building and I like the security of knowing I am never more than a minute away from him...

We pay 116 / week for part-time 5 days a week. DS is in the toddler room. We get a discount because we are staff at the university, but I don't think their is a discount for multi-kids. I know its less when they are potty trained.

At lot of you have cheaper rates that I do. For some reason daycare here is really high. We take our kids to a center and we get a 10% discount for the oldest kid so we pay $195/week for DD and with the 10% discount we pay $148.50/week for DS so that is $343.50/week or a whopping $17,862 a year! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Becka - we are going to be TTC #2 in the coming months. I am HOPING that if I can't be a SAHM I can keep them where they are. It would be $200 for DS and $238 (probably more b/c rates go up Feb 28)...for a total of $22,776 a year. Isn't that ABSURD?????? Almost as much as 1 year at a private college!

I am reading this thread and thinking

Around here, a typical babysitter charges $25-35 a day (canadian) depending on the age of the child.

Maybe some of y'all can move up here to Canada. We'd love to have you :goodvibes

Last year I paid $23,296 for two kids. If I don't get the buyout I'm hoping for, I'll be paying $35,880 for three kids this upcoming year. :earseek:

I'm fortunate, blessed, spoiled and add any other word for it to be able to be a stay at home mom (I work 10 hours a week teaching aerobics)- looking at some of the fees equated to yearly really shocked me, I couldn't afford to go back to work full time - the costs are staggering...I'd be netting what I currently make or less...that's not including travel expenses, clothing allowance, etc...please no flames,I'm not passing judgement... I occasionally long to go back to work full time, but will have to look at it closer to see if it's economically feasible, and if the "pluses" outweigh the "minuses" in my situation. Thanks to the OP for asking the question!

He he I just wanted to let you know that I am only 21 ;) Still in college too!! But I agree that it is an exhausting but rewarding.

I have a home daycare and my rates vary for age and if it's night or weekend hours. I charge $23.60 per day For more than 5hrs. of care and $15.00 for less than 5 hrs. of care. This is traditional hrs rate. Non-traditional is 25% more. Infants are a little more only until they reach 12 months of age. I do not give multi child discounts because since I can only care for 6 children, I would take a huge hit. The big centers can afford it.

I can't believe what some of you have to pay! It really seems to vary quite
a bit. I'm a provider in nj and presently my fee is $165 per wk for 1 child and $265 weekly if theres two kids. I provide all food and snacks once they begin table food. I was thinking of raising my rates which is why I decided to ask around on the diz and see what others are paying. :earsboy: :earsgirl:
