Childcare Fees

Just wondering what fees you pay weekly for childcare services,
and do you get a break for a second child. Also is in home care more
or less expensive in your area then childcare centers?

I don't pay weekly, but monthly. My tuition just went down because DS is in Kindergarten now. I pay $670 per month. The hours are 7:AM - 6:30 PM but he is there from 8-5. This is my last year of paying - my town only did l/2 day Kindergarten, so we left him in his daycare for kindergarten. I was paying $724 per month last year. I'm in Bergen County in NJ.

I don't do day care but I have some friends that do. Toddler and above rates are about $1.65/hour, infant rates are $1.85/hour. Some charge a little more, some a little less. Most give a reduced rate for the second child usually around $1.50/hour.

i'm an at home provider...i currently get $20/day for kids over age 2 and $30/day for under age 2. It's usually only $10 more for additional siblings (unless that sibling is an infant-then it is $15 more). Centers here are a lot more expensive...i've gotten lots of calls asking if i have room in my home, cuz the centers price keeps going up.

My son (2) goes to daycare on Andrews AFB and we pay $559 a month. He goes from 715am to 415 pm. The child care centers are open from 6am to 6pm.

DD4 only goes part-time right now (M,W,F 9:15-2:00) and it's $285/month. Full-time, 5 days, is $165/week. Last year, she went 2 full days/week for $35/day.

ETA: She goes to a center and I don't know if there is a break if you have more than 1 child, since I only have 1.

I pay just under $1000 a month for both my DS and DD at preschool (no discount for 2)...but I don't mind since school is wonderful....I don't want them to grow up too fast, but I have to say I will be happy in two years when I don't have the childcare expenses I have had for the last 5

I don't know about in home care but center care for a preschool child is 130.00 a week - 5 days and the center is open 6:30-6:30 there is a 20% discount for your oldest child.

My Mom has a home daycare and she charges $70 a week for under 1 year; $65 a week for ages 1-5; and $35 a week for school age kids. We are located in Southwest, Virginia.

I pay my aunt $125 weekly for 6:30am-6:00pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. She lives 5 mins from our house and we drop him off in the am and pick him up around 6:15ish. She is a godsend and I don't know what I would have done without her. I wish I could pay her 500 bucks a week!

I'm currently on maternity leave but I was paying $206 a week for my 4yo and $242 a week for my 2yo.

I do home daycare in the chicago suburbs, I charge by the hour. $4/ one child and $6/ two.

I guess full time that would work out to be about $180/week for one. I also have the children bring their own meals. I got sick of spending all my income on groceries. I feed some kids 3 meals a day + snacks so it makes a HUGE difference. And the moms actually like being in charge of what their kids eat every day.

Wow. My Mom would be in heaven. I know we spend anywhere from $75-100 in groceries every week just for the daycare kids. And she gets paid way less (you just can't charge your prices around here). BUT, the standard of living, I assume, is much, much higher where you are.

Between 150-200 a week for in home care....the school that I sent my daughter to also had full time day care and it was 1250 for the month.

When DD1 was in the infant room, we paid $165 per week. Now we're paying $126 - ($140 with 1 10% discount for two kids)
We pay $63 a week for my DS5. He is in full day Kindergarten so we only need the day care center to pretty much pick him up and take him to school. His fee was $70 per week minus 10% also.
We get two weeks vacation per year with both. One thing I like about this place was they gave the 10% two kid discount on both kids. Many places only offered it for the older child. Not that we'd pick a place on money - we were using this place long before DD was even a twinkle in her daddy's eye, but it was a nice bonus!
There's also a $30 family registration fee and a $40 per semester supply fee per kid.

Don't they have a food program where you live? I know the licensed daycares in MN get a food subsidy for the day care kids. Maybe it is just a Minnesota program?

My 1 year old is in a center 4 full days a week. It's $590 a month. But she loves it there so as much as it hurt, it's OK.

I think it is a national program. One of my sister's works for a company that provides software to manage the food program. I can get the details from her of where you'd sign up but my understanding of what they do is help have things to do menu planning and things required for payment. PM me if you'd like details and I'll ask her for a website or something.

My niece does home daycare and she doesn't do the food program because if the paper work involved and she finds that she likes having more flexibility in the menus.

We pay 6.25 per hour at a center that is primarily a preschool. They do before and after school care so people do use it as day care. Meals are provided (breakfast/lunch and 3 snacks).
