My son who will be 12 when we go on the trip (early may08) has mild asthma . what ride or rides should we avoid? we will have inhauler just in case.

Depending on what his triggers are, he will probably be able to go on all the rides. The only two that I can think of off the top of my head are Spaceship Earth in Epcot and Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom- both use artifical smoke in certain areas of the ride (not the whole attraction) that can trigger reactions in sensitive individuals.

Both, my brother and sister are severe asthmatic adults (have been all of their lives). I was mildly asthmatic as a child and so was my dd. So - based on my experience, I would say that only you and your 12yr old son really knows what his tolerance level allows him to do. There are so many varying factors that I don't really know how anybody could ever really answer your question without knowing your son. Questions like, does he like thrill rides, does he scare easily, how easily is he "winded" - etc.

All of the rides that have any kind of turbulence, thrill factor, etc., are posted with warning signs at the entrance. You also have lots of time to look over the rides on the WDW website to perhaps ask more specific questions about rides that people can answer....???

DS4, DH and I are all asthmatic. We haven't come across any rides at Disney that give any of us trouble. But I always have an inhaler in the backpack just in case.

I agree with the others that the most important thing to know would be what his triggers are.
My niece has mild asthma and didn't have any problems with riding anything, but someone with different triggers than her might.

Another 2 attractions I can think of that might have triggers are Festival of the Lion King at AK (a fire twirler) and Soarin' (some odors of pine, oranges, ocean).

I have not had any rides or attractions that have set off an asthma attack.

The only other attraction I can think of that could give someone trouble would be It's Tough to be a Bug in Animal Kingdom. It has odors during the show.

::yes::
Forgot about that one - it's stink bug odor.

There is a also a skunk odor in Imagination.

And, Stitch's Great Escape has some smoke (white mist, not smoke smell) and chili dog smell.

I would say avoid the intense version of Mission:Space!! I am an asthmatic and went on it before anyone really talked about the spinning of the ride. I felt absolutely horrible, it spins so fast that you just cannot catch your breath and the pressure on my chest was enormous!! I really could not breath. It was a horrible experience I will never repeat and frankly ruined the rest of my day because I kept feeling sick afterwards.
