My mom and MIL are coming to WDW with us, staying in a separate room. We all have DDP. If they were to take my son to dinner without us, would they have to pay OOP for his meal? I assume neither his nor their magic bands would be able to access his credits? He's 5.

His band should have access to his credits, but he'll need to know his pin. Or grandma needs to know his pin.

they would need to have his magic band and the PIN for your room in order to pay for his meals from your room's meal account. They'd have to scan both a band from their room and a band from yours to pay.

The age of the guest is irrelevant, all magic bands linked to one room will be able to access all dining credits assigned to that room.

Thank you! I just assumed his band had no charging privileges. That makes it so much easier.

If you ask, his band will have no credit card charging privileges (but you have to ask). However, his band will have access to dining credits, that can't be changed. Whoever is purchasing the meal for him will need to know your room's PIN though.
