child ticket but turns to old to use?

My friend asked me to post a question when I told her I come to the disboards, so this actually is to assist her.

She has 1 day remaining on her WDW ticket for her daughter, but she thinks she can no longer use it as her daughter is now 12 or 13 years old, was a child when first bought.

Can she still use this? What is the process? Is she better off giving it to a person she knows who can use it for their child? thanks for the response, she will appreciate any info I can pass on to her from you guys--the pros!

I had a friend who was in this situation (son was 11 and had 2 days left on a pass from when he was 8) that she brought the ticket to Guest Services at MK (though I imagine any park is fine) and explained the situation and they gave her 2 days on an adult pass in exchange for the child pass. She didn't have to pay to upgrade the pass to 'adult', they just gave her a new adult pass with the same privledges that the child pass had and told her that this was Disney's policy since days never expire but children do get older. Now I'm sure that some CMs may not be as willing to do this, even though it is Disney's policy, as there is often a lot of discrepancy among CMs, but if so then just try another one.

I know many others on this board would think it's horrible and illegal to give the pass to a friend who has a child who can use the pass (as you can see from another thread), but I think that would also be an okay option for your friend if she doesn't want to bring the ticket with her to exchange for an adult pass.

There is no charge to exchange a child's pass for an adult pass with the same number of unused days & plus options.

This is Disney's policy and I cannot imagine that any of the CMs working the ticket booths or guest services will give your friend a bad time about it or not know how to handle it. It's a common request.

we just had a thread to this same effect, and Carol really said it all. This is a common request and ticket CM know how to handle it. Her child ticket should be exchanged for an adult ticket.

We ask about this when we bought our PAPs this year because the DD will turn into an adult in Disneys eyes and they told us to just go to any ticket booth at a park and they will upgrade the pass to adult at no charge.
