Is there a child swap at Universal? How does it work?

It will be my parents, my six month old and me and my husband.

Would we (DH and Me) be able to ride and then my parents?

Yes, there is a child swap. We have not been for a few years, but when we went, everyone waited in line together (unlike Disney), then the child and an adult (or two in your case) waited in a separate area or room. After the first group rides, the second group goes.
