I looked at some of the recent posts and could not find any information for the child swap option for Forbidden Journey. Any info on how it works and how many people are allowed to go on the swap would be great.

The child swap is nice room right outside the entrace to the ride where they load people. They play the first Harry Potter movie in there for the kids to watch. You will get a ticket when you go in that says they will only allow 1 person with the ticket plus an additional rider on the ride for child swap. You might be able to get a ticket for each person going in to allow for another ride to go with them. :wizard:

We are 3 adults and 2 children. I think the 8 year old will want to go and then suddenly change her mind at the last minute (happened in the Haunted Mansion). She is familiar with the movies so she will really enjoy the inside of Hogwarts. Maybe she will go and maybe not.

So...how does it work if one of your kids suddenly chickens out? We didn't tell them ahead of time that she wasn't going to ride so what happens then? Can one of us stay with her in the child swap area? Do the rest of the party exit by the child swap area so we can meet up? Sorry I am a bit confused.

Anybody out there that help with my question? Perhaps you have done the same thing with a child who decides not to ride a ride?

I can't say for sure since we haven't been yet, but I fully expect my tall-enough DD7 will not ride FJ. I'm planning to wait with her in child swap while DH and DD11 ride, then ride with DD11. I expect Universal will allow this since we will have all waited in line. Hope it works out!

I thought that the child swap was only for those who do not meet the height requirements of the attraction...not if they choose not to ride. Don't know what they do about a child changing their mind. The child swap area is then used as the "chicken exit"? Anybody know?

Found this on Universal Orlando's site:

Sit out then swap. If your kids are too small or unwilling to go on a particular ride you want to experience, please take advantage of our "child swap" program. Each ride and attraction has a child swap area where one member of your party can wait with the little ones while the rest of your party rides. Once they are off the ride, swap places and whoever rode can stay with the kids while the adult(s) who sat out get the opportunity to enjoy the ride.

At Disney, this is definitely the case as the too-short child is not allowed in the queue, so an adult has to wait with them instead of entering the line (although DD7 chickened out of RnR at the last minute and DH was able to ride once the rest of us got off). Since everyone waits in line at Universal, I'm hoping we can send half the group and then the other person can ride. Everyone would have already put their wait time in.

We were there and had the baby during opening week, Of course they knew we were doing child swap so everyone but me and the baby went on the ride. They gave me a piece of paper saying that I was child swap and that I and one other person can ride.

I did see other people who went into the child swap area with a child that just did not want to ride at the last minute and there was a guy in there making sure that everyone had a ticket.

They were very strict about the 2 ppl rule, you could only bring one other person with you once your party got off the ride. Now, if you had a large group and half wanted to ride and the other half wanted to stay they might give each person in the child swap area a ticket but I don't know how that would work. They told me that the reason it was so limited was because of the wait time on the ride and how busy it was.

Thanks for the info.

Is it 2 people limit on all Universal rides or just HP? That means we'll have to go through twice in order for me to get to ride with each of my boys (dd too small). From my understanding reading about the seating, it doesn't really matter who you ride with, but my boys so far still want to ride with both mom and dad.

The only ride that had that limit was FJ, I did not encounter any other ride at US/IOA that had a limit. Since we had a larger party, DH and me would then take DD back on the ride while Grandma stayed behind with the baby.
