Does anyone know what age range is mandatory to have car seats in US. We packed our own last year as much cheaper than hirign every day

Florida's law requires all children under six years of age to be properly restrained.
Children through age three must be secured in a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat, and for children four through five years of age a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt must be used.
The cost to a violator of the child restraint law is $60 and three points on the driver's license.

in florida, child seats are only required for children ages 0 to 3..

from age 4 and up, you can use the car seat belt without a car seat...

Thanks for the advice. Our son will be 7yrs and is tall for his age but we use a booster seat here in the UK. We took our own last time when he was 5 yrs, but extra valuable shopping space would be useful if we are legal to drive with ordinary seat belts
