I hear that the Green Home Depot Mickey Paint Samples are what we use to identify each other in the parks. I'm going to stick my cell phone # and resort info on the back of some green mickey's and then laminate them. Use a hole punch at the top and I'll have my kids wear them as necklaces/id tags in case they get lost and then they can also double as DIS ID's!

Any other info I should print out on the tags? I'm not sure if I should put their names or not? I do think we should definitely have our cell phone #'s.

Thanks!

Search on google and you'll find tons of suggestions on child safety in crowded places. I have seen some interesting products, such as:

1. Who's Shoes (whosshoesid). It is a velcro enclosed label that goes on the child's shoes. It has the following fields, which are hidden by the velcro cover.

* Child's Name
* Parent's Name
* Emergency Phone
* Physician's Name
* Phone Number
* Medical Conditions
* DOB

2. Angel Alert (Target)
This is a two piece electronic device. If the child strays more than xx feet from you, it goes off.

Designed to set off the alarm in closer distances when crowds are denser, and further distances when child and adult are within sight of one another.
o Range is approximately 30 feet, depending on conditions
o Child's transmitter includes a panic button
o Can be attached with neck cords or clips
o Includes 2 replaceable, long-life lithium cell batteries with 200+ hours of operating life.
o Adult unit is 2.5 inches x 1.5 inches x .5 inches
o Child unit is 1.5 inches x 1.5 inches x .5 inches
o Unit can also be used to protect Alzheimer's patients, pets or purses, luggage or backpacks.

3. Child Locator (Target)
This is really cool, but I wish they combined the features of the above item with it. It is a pink or brown bear that goes on the child's shoelaces/straps and if the child gets lost, you press your transmitter button and the bear yells, "Mommy, I'm over here."

Hope that helps.

What a terrific idea! :thumbsup2 I may have to steal that one!

If you do write your kids names on the tags I would do first name only and print it super small so only someone who is looking closely at the tag can read it. I would definitely do it for the youngest two of your kids and maybe offer the option to the older kids...

Do any of your kids have any food allergies or asthma issues? Even if they wear a medic ID bracelet it may be nice to add that info to the tags so it is up close and personal.

Thanks again for the idea! I promise to use a different color in case we are ever in the park at the same time! Unless of course you want a sassy 4 yr old DS!!!! :teeth:

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Thanks - Luckily my kids don't have any allergies, asthma or other chronic conditions. You are funny. A sassy 4 year old can join us anytime. When you have 4 kids, whats one more!?! He'll fit right in with my sassy 6 year old DD!

Just be careful how the card is attached around the neck - it should be on some kind of breakaway snap cord, so it doesn't create a strangling hazard. Even a piece of yarn around the neck can cause a nasty friction burn before it snaps.

When we went last year I did a laminated ID card and had my GS carry it in his back pocket. Worked out great.... I too would worry about anything around the neck that could get caught on a ride. I also read a great post that I will use this year, if we need it. Take a permanent marker with you to put a big letter (like of your last name) on the back of the kids' ponchos if it rains. You will be able to spot your family in a sea of people easily from the back. :)

Very ingenious - I'll have to try that one too - my DD has a pink princess one which sort of stands out but the rest of us have the some old ones everyone else has - and it is amazing how everyone looks the same with those on! Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

My husband went to Petco and got each of our boys a "pet tag." We put their name and our cell numbers on it. We'll use the jump ring to attach it to their shoelaces. The print is small enough that I'm not worried about people seeing it from afar and using it for nefarious purposes and sturdy enough to stand up to 2 very active boys.

Thanks!

With all the background noise and music at WDW, would these alarm devices be easy to hear? I wouldn't want someone depending on hearing an alarm if a child wanders, but missing it because it was too hard to hear it.

We did the same thing. Our two yo wasn't crazy about it being on his shoe though so I attached it to his belt loop. We made the tags at the machine in Walmart. I still have them and use them every trip.

I have this...

it works great! My son has blue and my daughter has pink. They don't mind wearing them because it's on their shoes! It can attach to sandals etc. also. Great idea!!!
