I was just wondering if anyone uses any special child id bracelets or shoe tags when they go to the theme parks? Any recommendendations? I have a very active and energetic 2 yeard old DD! This is our first time going and any advice would be great!

Prior to our trip a couple of years ago, I read a suggestion for child safety. Each morning take a picture of you child(ren) with a digital or instant camera. This way if you loose them you will have a picture that is current and also shows what they are wearing on that day to give to security.

We did the Medical type Id on the ankles when DD was very young then we switched to the Dog tag style a few years back .

We put it on a necklace or Pin it inside a pocket. with her name and my cell # on it .We would get them at the US store at MCO or wait the last couple years to get them in the first park we went to .I think they all have them somewhere now.

With DD being 12 now and having a cell for the past couple years we stopped but I think they work the best as they are out of sight but the info is always there

Our local Petsmart has a dog-tag machine that makes very nice shoe-tags for the little ones.

Coincidentally- I just got some today - Cost me $ 8 for two -- When I walked into WalMArt this a.m. I noticed an ID maker -- Takes about 2 minutes - You pick which little metal tag you want - type in info - and it prints right up - My kids loved it - It is clearly designed for pets, etc - but worked great - You can put it on a necklace - etc - like dogs tags - but I plan to tie it onto their shoes. (Now - I have been there many times before - never noticed it - it may be new, or perhaps I never was looking for id tags before???)

I ordered from idonme. Id on me looks good. The info is not out in the open for anyone to see, which is good. You don't want someone calling your child's name to lure them away from you.

I've used a wallet sized family photo. I put my cell phone # on the back and laminate the photo, hole punch it and tie it onto a belt loop. That way if the child gets lost they can say I'm with my mom, dad, brother, sister...see here...

I've used a luggage tag that is clear on both sides. I put my info in showing on one side and a pic of me with DD showing on the other. DD usually likes to carry a small backpack and it stays in there, but could be looped through a belt loop.

We used Whos shoes ID on our trip. It's a Velcro band -- information is on the inside -- that slips through their shoelaces. My 4 yo DGD had neon pink!!

the site is, if you add the webby "com" stuff later: kidsafeid

(can't post links yet)

you can either input the info and photo online and just print the card yourself (free!) or order two printed cards (same kid) for 9.99 (inc. shipping). You can pick from 30 background designs, which gets the kid involved and is fun for you both! You could either put it in a lanyard clip or in the kids back pocket and keep one for yourself. Or, a card like this would be a great addition to the shoe tags (the site also has those, I think you get two free with certain orders right now)

(just a tip, this site also runs fundraiser for groups, so if you've got a soccer team or school or brownie troop that is tired of selling the typical stuff, you could do this!)

I do the same thing. DD3's name and my cell phone. She has been told that if she ever looses us to show someone the tag. We have a cute pink heart.

We have the Who's Shoes Id and they stayed on the shoes, the info wasn't out in the open and the kids ignored it after the first day- we practiced with them at home first. I like it because it is easy to change with different pairs of shoes and my kids wear a lot of different shoes! You could probably put it on a belt loop too if your child has a belt loop! I think it is better for a smaller child than the dogtags/pet tags, either on a shoe or necklace because of the choking concern. That is why we chose these.
