Child ID bracelet at retail stores?

We are leaving for Disneyland on Saturday, 7/11. I realized too late that I would like for my youngest 2 children (ages 2 1/2 and almost 7) to wear some kind of identification bracelet in case they get separated from us. I know there are some available online, but I don't have time to order any.

I've checked with Babies R Us and they don't carry anything like this. I also happened to be in Kohl's this evening and figured they wouldn't have anything, but I looked and asked anyway, and they don't.

Does anyone know of any chain retail store that might carry something like this?

I know at one time they had them at Toys R Us....But since you have little time, you could print out info straight across, and laminate it with contact paper into a long skinny strip, and then either punch a hole in it and put it throuh their shoe laces or on a cord around their neck, under their shirt, or tape it on as a bracelet!

Probably MORE important is to take them up to he first cast member they see and point out their CM pin and tell them that if Mommy gets lost, go up to someone wearing a pin like that and ask them to help find you!

We actually went to our local wal-mart or or large chain pet store and made our kids dog tags in the engraving machines... They have Disney ones, DD got Tink and DS actually got a Batman one... It only took a few minutes and we bought the chain that is optional to put them on... The kids love them and they serve their purpose... :thumbsup2

What a great idea!!! I am so impressed I love it and am going to do it tomarrow for sure!!!!!!!!!! My 2 and 4 year old will think its really special Thanks so much!!!:dance3:

I was going to suggest the pet shop, too for the stand alone machine that does the engravings but Walmart is probably cheaper and carries a greater variety of images. ;) I love my Mickey key I had cut there for $3.50.

If you use the dog tags do you not have to worry about the kids putting them in their mouths?

If you have a running store near you, they will probably have shoe ID tags. I bought some for myself because I often run alone.

I like the idea of the safety pin. I just had the tags made today and I bought break away lanyards at Staples. I am always paranoid that they will get their necklaces caught on something and choke. The break away lanyards give me a little piece of mind.

My kids never put them into their mouths, but I also normally put the dog tag into their shoe laces... They also have the pin lanyards that are break-a-way that I attach them to if they are wearing shoes with no laces...

We got military style ID tags for our kids. They liked them because they were "army". Many of the Army Navy Stores will also do them right in store. We got our latest set online for $6 for 2 (and each could be different) and had them within a week. The set came with the rubber anti-clinker bands and a chain. We got a second chain for an additional $2. You are limited in what can go on them but we got our sons' names, our cell numbers and Grandma's home number on there (designated as Mom, Dad & EMER). These are embossed not engraved but they are nice and durable. The tag itself is in no way going to break. The chain is sturdy enough that the kids won't break it but large enough that they can slip out of it easily if caught on something. It is linked so it would probably break if enough pressure is put on it. You can also get the little toe tag chains for attaching to shoes or pinning to the shirt.

We used the Disney bag tags on our kids. We looped it around their belt loop and tucked it in their pocket. They popped out here and there, but they worked just fine. AND they were free. I LOVE FREE! (Well...kind of free...we did pay a fortune for the vacation package.)

WE did the same thing and used our Disney luggage tags. I just looped it thru DS6 belt loop. We actually had our DS6 dissappear on us in the WL. We were in the lobby and looking at pins, I turned around and he was gone. Trying not to panic, pretty sure he would not have gone out of the building to the pool, we split up to search. DS did just what I have taught him. He went up to the check in desk saying he could not find us. He actually ended up with the manager who took him for a walk and we found each other in the lobby store. As scared as I was I was so proud of him for using his head, even when he was so upset, and going to the front desk. Many times in different places I have stopped and said if you could not find Mom where would you go. One of the places I say is go into a store and find the register.

I turned one of our luggage tags into a child ID for my DS. I put our first names, cell # and resort on it, and made a sort of lanyard out of an eye glasses holder and the plastic that is normally used to attack the luggage tag to the luggage. I saw other people around the parks that had used one of their luggage tags as a child ID too. And the kids like to wear it because it has the castle on it. I also taught my DS to look for a CM if he got separated from us. I had a CM to lean down so my DS could see what their name tag looked like, so he would know what to look for. I just told him to look for any person who has the castle on their name tag and they would help him find us. Luckily I didn't need to put the ID or the education we gave him to the test. :wizard:

Hiya,

We were worried too but didn't have the foresight to think of it in advance so....While in MK we stopped at a vendor cart, bought lanyards, bought pin trading pouches which dangle from the lanyard, bought some pins for fun and the cast member gave us a piece of paper. On it we added all the important info & zipped it into the see-though pouch. My kids love them!

They turned into a keepsake, identification, must wear everyday at WDW accessory onto which the pins keep multiplying:cutie: You might already have the lanyards!;)

We've used them 2x now & they are already packed for our upcoming trip. I couldn't figure out how to add a pic but if interested PM me & I'll send you one.

I know that lovablelabels.ca has child ID bracelets that let you customize 2 lines with text up to 41 characters per line. They ship to both the US and Canada even though they are a Canadian site. The price is $19.95 for 34 labels. Perfect for name, cell number, ressie and resort numbers too. A friend of mine uses this company all the time for her kids camp labels and they ship really fast too. Also there is stuckonyou.biz Check them out.
Also there is mabel.ca but I don't know if they ship to the US. Hope this helps.

Dog tags are a GREAT idea!!

There is also Things To Be Remembered. They sell id bracelets that they will engrave anything you want on them.
